Valby split 15:30 (with pacer)/15:20 (solo) at Bryan Clay for the NCAA record. She also had to run wide often because she lapped 34 people during the second half of the race alone. She won't be lapping anyone in Paris and she will have people to pace off the entire race, especially the tough second half. Will she run faster than 15:07 for her second 5000m?
Ahh. Good old-fashioned microaggression at it's finest!
Shoe company reps negotiating contracts will not be leaking. It could cost them their jobs. So who else would say anything? And is it real?
Maybe other agent(s) and/or insiders embedded in the sport that would have an idea on this stuff? Or maybe her dad answered the question that was asked? I don’t know. But I presume that is probably the case for you, too, unless you have more detailed information on the matter you wish to share.
None of the quotes regarding her negotiations come from the Valby camp, so they should be taken with a grain of salt.
It will be interesting to see which brand of shoes she races in.

Interesting. How do you know that (they didn’t come from her camp)? (Not saying you are wrong, since I have no idea, but how would you know either way?)
I’m kind of surprised she hasn’t signed, since there have been various parties on the forum saying she already signed.
After all I’ve seen and read (mostly from this site) on this ‘sport’, my opinion is it provides occasional opportunity for athletes to get really screwed over.

Because the articles didn’t name the Valby camp as their source. Have you noticed how guarded she is when asked about her contract negotiations? I highly doubt they’re sharing any of the details with Runner’s World.
The assumption in the Valby Olympic thread is that she’ll run an even paced race and shoot for a PR, which would be something like 15:20/15:20.
Finding someone that is running the right pace for her, will be difficult, so she’ll need to listen to the splits and do the math.
Will there be anyone calling out splits, or a display thereof? At the US trials, they were putting their pace up on the scoreboard in terms of speed in mph, which is practically worthless information.

But the articles have been about direct contact exchanges, both in person and by phone. Makes me wonder why Runners World is playing coy like that.
tbh, the way she ran her PBs, I wouldn't be shocked if she gets below 30:30 or even 30:20 when she would be dragged along by other top runners in Paris. Of course though the weather has to cooperate.

They’re clearly getting info from someone else to fill in gaps. There’s a lot of speculation, and I felt like they made that clear.

According to Runners World, “NIL deals end when the athlete leaves college and turns pro.”
This may be a dumb question: she has left college, but has she actually turned pro? Is the original NIL in effect if she goes back for one more season?

Ahhh, is the poor little cwy-baby astro aka kookie aka xxxx downvoting my posts because he got his wittle feelings hurt?

I think we’d have to see the contract.
Also, I’m not sure whether she has officially left college, since she represented Florida at the trials. I know she posted it on Instagram, but that doesn’t mean she can’t still return. Perhaps the NIL deal is still in effect for now.
So if that’s the case, we know what shoe she will be in.
The article said there could possibly be a 180-day hold-out period for an athlete to exit an NIL deal…but that would imply she needs to first exit the NIL deal? That situation is kind of confusing.

I wondered about that too. But, there could already be a contract in place, and they’re waiting to announce it. Who knows…
Since her sponsor is the biggest stakeholder in this sport ‘entertainment industry’, and has past stories associated with it of being a bully, amongst other nefarious things, it might not be the best thing as an athlete starting out in the ‘sport’ to tick them off, so it’s not hard to understand there is still exists that same power dynamic with athletes, played out at various levels, throughout the years.
But maybe there will be some lessons here for other up-and-coming athletes to be aware of before they sign any NIL deal in the future. Don’t expect Congress or the NCAA to fix any associated problems anytime soon.

Maybe her earning potential is more this coming year if she stays in college? I hadn’t even considered that. She’d probably win 5 more titles and she could still enter a few pro meets. I’m pretty sure the NIL deals are year to year.

getting info, or getting fed disinformation in an attempt to affect the negotiation? while demanding to be unnamed as a source? It's terrible journalism.
