Interested to see who everyone is predicting medals now in the women’s 400m? The level is just insane after today’s Diamond League in London…
Pryce is 50/50. I don't feel good calling her a favorite for gold because of how long her season has been. It's really just gonna come down to how she looks in the heats - if she looks good, she's gonna be fine. The Arkansas ladies train to rounds.
Kaczmerek will medal, but it won't be gold. I feel very comfortable saying that. She's a talent in her prime that runs good times consistently but the others around her have a certain X-factor that I don't think she has. Pryce has unreal endurance. Paulino is incredibly strong. Adekele runs 10.89. However, Kaczmerek does train with the Netherlands quarter mile group, so she's gonna be in peak shape when she needs to be.
If I had to choose someone for the win, it would be Adekele. First of all, Flo Knows. Second of all, she has the speed (10.89 as mentioned previously), the build(she's like 6'2) and the periodization (no NCAA season) to pull it off. Downside is that she is still relatively inexperienced in the grand scheme of things - I think this is only her 3rd year focusing on the 400, if you can believe that. Watch her race at Euros and her interview after.
Paulio hasn't raced in 8 weeks but if she's ready to go then she's always gonna be a danger for gold. It doesn't matter if she comes in running slower than everyone else - not only does she know how to win, she just doesn't loose.
Sada Williams will be a factor. She knows how to run championships. Top 5 for sure.
The US will have at least 1 finalist but no medalists.
Pre-Olympic predictions:
1. Paulino 48.x
2. Kaczmerek 48.x
3. Adeleke 48.x
4. Pryce 48.x
5. Willaims 49.L
