Start reading Ferdinand Ossendowski. Beasts, Men, and Gods is a good one to start with. Lenin: God of the Godless, The shadow of the Gloomy Easy, Man and Mystery in Asia are all extraordinary.
Three Body Problem is good. Replace our politics with Chinese Cultural Revolution politics, and you have science, history, ecostuff. The first book, at least, is pretty different from the netflix show.
I also liked Ralph Ellison's unfinished book, Juneteenth, a lot, except for all the sermons from the preacher, Alonzo Hickman.

"Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse. You can read the whole book in a couple of hours. It'll help you escape all the crap that's inundating the airways these days. Also: "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle.
Beowulf (Seamus Heaney or Peter Ramey translation)
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (J.R.R. Tolkien translation)
I'd go with the Tolkien translation of Beowulf too. It really feels like epic verse in the way Tolkien translated it. That's how Beowulf is meant to be read.
