If the Norweigans were smart they'd sacrifice Nordas as the pacemaker to Jakob to guarantee a win for Norway at the 1500m final. Josh Kerr can't outkick Jakob in a 3:26 or 3:27 race.
I "love" it when people assume countries or federations are a single entity projecting their will on any individual belonging to them. Specifically I'd like to see "Norwegians", whatever that means, convince the world bronze medallist, coached by none other than Jakob's father, throw away any medal chances to pace his rival.

Id like to see the Americans sacrifice Kessler as the pro tripper so Hoppel has a shot at gold

Has happened on several occasions with Kenya and Ethiopia at Worlds over the years. I witnessed it firsthand in 2001 Worlds with Kenya. Everyone knew it.

Kenya and Norway are quite different.
And as pointed out earlier, Nordås runs to maximize his own chances at a medal.

Nordas at the beginning remains almost comically inept at his off-the-line acceleration. Today he was a good 3 meters behind everyone else 50m in. And it was definitely not deliberate. So if you're asking him to do this (which they won't), he might not do a great job of it. He'd probably have to go into lactic as he'd put it from 200-400m to get to the front. I'd give him maybe 500m of hitting the sub-56.5s tempo from the front.
Phenomenal race, I think Jakob's the heavy favorite in any race with pacers and wavelights.
But he won't have those in the Olympic final! Kerr still knows exactly what he has to do and exactly what it'll take. Can't wait to see them face off in Paris
Did you just start following track and field today? Jacob has already been in an Olympic final, and he won without pacers or wavelights.

Obvious it's not running, but this is normal in sports like cycling. Assuming your comment about countries/federations projecting their will applies only to athletics, then ignore my comment.
If you meant that for all sports, then there are clear exceptions.

This. Today’s race means nothing for Paris. We already know Jakob is Super Man when it comes to time trialing. Not having pacing help is his kryptonite in the 1500.
Pepperidge Farms remembers when he said "I am the pacemaker." Still, an Olympic final is no walk in the park for anyone at 1500. Ask El Gerrouj.
