Yet the top women are 5'1" and under
Correction: Hines is given as 6'0. Same as Borzov, Crawford and Allan Wells.
If he's a legit 5'11 then it won't matter.
I take height claims with a pinch of salt, anyway. I've met pro athletes / Olympians across multiple sports, and I'd say most aren't the height they're listed at (including a ridiculous example when a "6'4" Olympic rower was basically my height at 16 - 6' flat).
In fact, in general, 90% of 6' claimers are clearly under it. It was borderline pathological in the Netherlands - lads who were maybe 180cm (5'11) on a good day insisting they were 185cm (my height).
Hilarious stuff.
Bolt solidifies the OP's theory into fact. He towered over the manlet sprinters.
MAURICE GREECE
Just for the Olympics? Lyles did win the WC gold last year...
I never thought Noah was gonna win gold in the 100m, but it didn't occur to me that he was under 6 feet. He's not short. If he was on Tinder he'd probably be 6'2".
5'11" is an honorary tall person, and I say this as a legit 6'2".
Once, I listed my height on a dating site as, "I'm 6'2" and I'm taller than all those other guys who say they're 6'2"."
It is actual math. What is clownish about that?
2024-1964 = 60.

whenever you have a tall guy break records, then the theory is you need to be tall.
at whatever distance.
or short, if you are a distance runner. of course if jacob gathers WRs in the distance, the height limitation is shot to hll.
so there is some truth to the theories.
but at the end of the day
there is no set height restriction at all. talent is the deciding factor.
right now you have a midget 16 year old running 44.5 400 at the trials..
blake was as fast as bolt pretty much, he was what 5 10?
ben johnson might have run 9.6 if not for the tampering.
way back in the day you had percy williams double gold at 128 pounds
jesse owens 5 10 at best?
don quarry semi goat 5 9
the list goes on
that said bolt was THE specimen, but he got too heavy, and the end
plus they took the drug testing unit out of the janitors room, and that was the end of jamaica supremacy in the sprints, lights out.
today they be dabbling again... round the world with a new stack.
i kind of love it, after studying for years, to get a great theory, shot down in flames.

btw it was Maurice Greece the GOAT, in 2000.
It really looks like a curse, we had great sprinters under 6ft, no one won the 100m.
Yohan Blake, Tyson Gay, Tim Montgomery, Walter Dix, Andre De Grasse, Trayvon Bromell, Christian Coleman, Marvin Bracy, Ato Boldon.... all great sprinters under 6ft, no Olympic gold in the 100m.
This stat got me spooked. I'm starting to think it's going to be Kishane, Kerley or Bednarek. Maybe Tebogo. Jacobs?
It seems like being at least 6ft is a requirement.
The GOAT? Of what taking steroids?
In few professional sports is it advantageous to be small.

For a man, being 6 feet tall is a requirement for nearly everything important.
Six feet tall and six inches long and 6 cm girthy.
he would run sub 9 now days

You think that Maurice Green wasn't doping? I'm not denying his ability, but there are reasons why he wasn't banned. I could spell them out but somebody who knows much more than me already has.
