Eaton would easily win the TJ. Rojas has a LJ PR of 6.88 compared with 8.23 for Eaton. Even with poor technique it would be no contest.
I have not seen your post before I wrote.
Without the technique, 15.50m+ would not be easy. But Rojas is out, so 15.00m should be relatively easy. But the HJ is really difficult with Mahuchikh in 2.10 form.
A top decathlete probably can't win the discus, shot put and hammer throw but they could win the javelin. Kevin Mayers PB in the javelin is better than the women's WR. Could win the pole vault, high jump, triple jump and long jump as well, so then it most likely comes down to what their strongest distances are for running.
Mayer is very close to the women's WR for 100, 200 and 400, but his 1500 is a horrible 4:18

Yes, Karsten Warholm would win the 100-400, 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles, long jump, triple jump, potentially the high jump/pole vault/800 and who knows on any of the throws. He would also win the heptathlon.

Forgot 800
I guess abit more work is required to look at the schedule if the guy has to actually make it to all of the field events and running events without causing delays. And the guys will not be at theor best as the meet progresses. The decathlon is 10 events but the individual running events have rounds. I will go with about 8 events for decathletes or even guys like Warholm or Tinch or Mondo.
My mind actually initially jumped to Jake Wightman. Has brilliant raw speed and can win the 400 and probably not be far away in the 200, as well as having 800 through 10K covered
It would be a good race between Jakob and Sydney. I am not sure if he could beat her. She has run 48.74 for 400m and 50.65 for the 400H. It would be interesting.
I think he would lose to Sydney and maybe Bol in the 400h because of a lack of technique (I know he was good in the 3000sc but it's not the same thing, way more difficult to pass hurdles at a high speed)
But he would win the Olympics in the 400m (48.5-49, could be close).
He wins without a doubt every race above, including the 3000sc and the marathon.
Not the only mid distance runner capable of that, though
How much technique can one need when the barriers are so low?
Logic states it would have to be in a sport where you can get to the most medals. Isn't that swimming?
Phelps has PRs faster than the women's world record in all Olympic swimming disciplines besides the 800 and 1500 but he never swum those seriously so probably could better them too.
I don't mean taking his lifetime fitness over a few years where he focused on one event over another. One point in time. And he has to do all the heats also(many on same day). Multiple 800 rounds. All the 1500 rounds. All the 5k rounds. And the 10k. I think he has issues doing it.
he would need to run like, 1:58/4:01/15:00 to get through rounds. do you understand how incredibly slow that is for him?

The gap between men and women is actually larger at more strength-based activities, so I'd expect a top decathlete to easily win those throws. A similar event to shotput in power requirements is Weightlifting, and there the gap is way bigger than in running events. Keep in mind women's throws use different implements that weigh different than the men's - men's shotput is almost 2x heavier than the women's.
I really think one olympics they should let a decathlete or someone like Jakob see how many golds they could win (running as many events as possible).
Imagine the drama of Kevin Mayer winning gold in 100 200 400 LJ, PV, Discuss, Javelin, and then doing it all over again and winning the hepthalthon lol. His schedule would be insane, would be interesting to see how it would unfold.

In the Uk 11 and 12 year old boys throw the same weight as a senior woman, and several get out over 40m.
if you don’t think a good decathlete could send a 1k discus out to the high 70m mark, you’re seriously underestimating the difference between the 1 and 2k implement. Worse case scenario, he needs a few practices to get the timing of the lighter implement right to get it out of the cage opening.
The answer to the original question is clearly a decathlete - depending on their particular strengths, they may drop one of these, but someone competing in the decathlon would be capable of winning each of: sprints, hurdles, horizontal jumps, all throws except possibly the hammer, vertical jumps and possibly 800 - I’ve known age group male combined eventers that have run 1’56 while training for Dec, so in the right race…
Are You out of Your mind, Jakob Ingebrigsten Could beat ANY WOMAN at 10k or Steeple or Marathon even the 400 what have the Woman ran this year High 48?
