ESP is a MOM. As far as I know Jess Hull and Muir are not MOMS thus they can not compete. eSP also milks cows while Muir only treats cows. Hull probably is rarely near a cow.
Muir didn't even manage to win British champs against Bell, Olympics will be a totally different game than this kind of time trial
Doesn’t matter does it? She ran a national record today. She is clearly as she always does, timing her peak. She had us a bit worried. But she trains and trains, doesn’t taper for early races and the Champs- does what she needs to do to get through. And then performs brilliantly at the major champs year after year.
I’ll admit that Hull is throwing a spanner in the works for her this year after never beating her for years.
It's like take that! Looks like Elle St Pierre should reconsider 5k. With times like that she might not make the final.
Terrible take. She can medal in the 1500. No chance in the 5000.
ESP ran 3:55 while leading the whole thing. I think she's in 3:53 shape at the worse.
ESP raced Hull at Pre and Hull beat her by just .03.
This race is the worse news for Hiltz than ESP. Hiltz has an unreal kick but she's a 3:55 woman all out being dragged to the time. She doesn't want the Olympic final to be super fast.

She came in 3rd in the trials. I agree Hiltz isn't going to be there but neither is ESP. Mackay is the USA best chance for a 1500 medal. Besides Elle has to watch her race tactics or she might get another 125 next to her name,

Ellie may have gotten 3rd, but it's hard to discount her fatigue from the 5000.

Exactly. Hiltz did NONE of the work at the trials. I really do not understand OP’s point.
How can she “gO hOmE dEvAsTaTed” if she wasn’t even there? And why would Nikki Hiltz or Emily Mackay NOT go home devastated if ESP does?
Because I think most people (present company not included) believe St. Pierre is currently the best 1500 runner of the lot. And she would have won if she didn't ( pick your excuse) tired legs from 5k, towing everyone around, Mommy duties.. and Nikki's win was a lucky day and Mackay is too green.

St. Pierre also blew away Hull in the indoor worlds 3000 and at the Millrose mile. They also ran the 3000 at NB Indoor Grand Prix where Hull just beat her in St. Pierre’s first race back.

But the Hull that lined up today looked hungrier and leaner than the Hull that lined up at Indoors.
The objective for these top notch pros was to peak for Paris this year. Can Hull sustain this form, now?

St. Pierre watched her medal chances VANISH in the 1500.
Her best event is the 3k. Not enough speed to medal in a 1500 and not enough endurance for a 5k at the world level.

What? Hiltz never ran the 3000 at NB indoor Grand Prix

On the real, it is more likely than not that St P does not medal in Paris. She is not beating Kipyegon. Either Welteji, Hull, Muir and or Tsegay will take silver. That leaves one medal up for grabs. Haylom has been inconsistent, so she's out for now. Expect Hailu, Chepchirchir and Mageean to be sharpened up by Aug. Hiltz and Mackay have demonstrated they aren't going to give St P an inch. A combination of current fitness and tenaciousness puts Hall and Bell in the mix.
Take home: It gets crowed real quick at the top. A sober benchmark for Team USA success in this event is (any American woman placing higher than) Johnson's 6th at World Champs 2022.

I agree but I have hope for Emily Mackay. I don't think we have seen all she has to give yet!

dumbest comment of the day. she paces a 3.55.99 alone. she can do sub 3.53 with others pacing
You call my comment dumb but my point is she will not medal in 1500. 3:53 awesome but it wouldn't have medaled today and probably wont in Olympics. Past performance is best predictor of future performance. The last Olympics she didn't even stick her nose in it.

You think Faith won't make it a time trial? That's exactly what she's done for the last three global champs and won easily each time, I can't see why she'd do anything differently.
