others posters here, hopefully some reading, surely know more than i do
but to the best of my knowledge, it is quite accurate, yes
i personally feel it would not be pointless at all. i think you would absolutely love it because you clearly love data and this would give you more of it AND it would be more accurate
you've got do-it-yourself backyard-scientist vibes, which i think is noble and are still at it 20 years after most D1 runners hung up their laces and got fat
not sure how long it would take to raise the funds, don't even know how much they cost!, but i'm confident it would happen
If we want to determine the accuracy of his timings we need to recruit
@NSX_Performance from twitter to do it. He's one of the best if not the best split analysis guys. Has pro athletes and coaches who reach out to him for their splits. But that significant slow down of 10yards to 20yards is suspect. I'd expect almost half a second faster for the 20yard time if the 10 yard time is accurate. Looking thru the numbers the 10 yard has to be inaccurate as hell since I got it as 28.4mph(Bolt went 27.8) using the 0.72. using the 1.94 the mph average is 21.09mph which seems a lot more reasonable.
the fastest way to stardom is to change the events being contested.
For example, one d-bag ran a marathon a week (since there is no category for this) and beat exactly everybody else (no one else was in the competition) running some "impressive" sub 3 hour marathons.
You see, he basically couldn't beat your ave junior high kid in a 5K, so he changed the race.
By inventing a new race and having no one else to compete against - you win.
proposal:
the 1 yard dash
the 2 yard dash
the 3 yard dash
the 4 yard dash
the 5 yard dash
the 6 yard dash
the 7 (some one else already mentioned that)
etc.
I know a dude who would count his stokes in swimming and only focus on that - so that way when he is slower than mud he can brag about how few strokes he takes.
Perhaps seeing how few steps you can take would be another way to prove your talent.
Others have tried the ran X race on every different continent of the world. Those are always good for some news coverage.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
