Very few of the political hysterics and idiots on both "sides" of US politics will realize or understand that "right wing" or "left wing" in the UK (or any other country) are quite different things than in the US. This is a real apples v. oranges comparison to make.
I think it’s pretty easy to understand. The Labour Party is middle left. The middle left is going to win big. The general public has an appetite for normalcy. People are turning away from extremism. It’s a good thing.
The labour party vote seems to be 36/37 pc of the vote, conservatives c25pc, the reform party c 12pc so the current appeal of labour is not overwhelming nor is the turn away from far right. I find it amazing that such a large pc still voted conservative.
The UK exit polls have proven to be very accurate in this century.
No, the Conservatives have lost because they stopped being conservative (aside from the usual maintaining of their Norman class privileges). The real story is that a truly right-wing populist party (Reform) has made a massive breakthrough and taken almost half the Conservative vote. Either the Conservatives will have to turn back to the right or they will never get into power again, or even be replaced by Reform as the right-wing opposition party.
do you really think they did that meant they stopped being right wing? Do you mean the Boris Johnson 'big state' programs? Some of this might have been necessitated by covid and lock-down, but Boris is still very popular? The tory party has tried to manage immigration, they have cut welfare. What do you think they should be doing that they are not?
I would say the same about politics in the US and the UK - i think society has changed - and neither party has any solutions for how to fix some of the problems (and not saying i do). But gone are the days of near full employment in GOOD jobs - we dont do manufacturing in either the UK or the US. There are not the old mines where people worked very hard but were paid well enough so that they could be a one income family and have a nice house and vacation - while we are near full employment now 15-20% of those people are in service jobs earning absolutely nothing that doesnt let them afford housing or things like that?
Both countries need to start talking about these things seriously. And...Trump certainly is not taking about it.
I’m old enough to remember 2016 when lefties rioted and burned cities after Trump won the first time. Also, old enough to remember when the same dipshlts did the same thing in the summer of 2020.

Or look at it another way. Right wing extremism has killed the conservative movement. The same thing is happening here.
This is true. Many traditional conservatives have been displaced due to the rise of the more extreme neo-con movement. But they have tapped into a whole new, broader, larger demographic as well maintaining a significant amount of the old guard.
I hope so but I don't have your optimism. Remember that the Brits have Brexit now, that helped making a more informed decision.
Meanwhile in the States the Angry Rural Voters love to vote against their own interest. But once Trump has implemented huge taxes for China, the people will realize that they have to pay for all of that at Walmarts and the DollarStore.
The noise skews to the right in this country. That’s all. American conservatives are loudmouths. So it seems like there’s more of them than there really are.
Also many of those loudmouths have wives that quietly vote the other way.
The left is much more quiet than the right. For the most part we just vote. It’s not going to be close.
This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard in a long time. The Left owns the universities, the media, social media (except for X) and big tech. In fact, conservative opinions were censored by Twitter, Facebook, Instagram via pressure from the US federal government. Calling the Left “quieter” than the Right only makes sense because the Right was not allowed to speak freely since 2020. The overwhelming voices that were tolerated came from the approved left-leaning narrative. Conservatives were banned from speaking if they dared question the efficacy of a vaccine, or asked simple questions about election integrity (just to name a couple of topics).

I am getting a little lost as to whether talking about the UK or the US here, but in the UK the majority of newspapers tend to be center-right to right. Definitely right: Telegraph, Sun, Mail, Express, Center-right: Times, Financial Time (Though FT anti-brexit), Definitely left: Guardian and Mirror. Think in terms of actual newspaper sales the mail/sun probably sell their left wings equivalent by 10-15X.

Which cities were burned down? Or are you just talking out of your ass?

He's talking about the US. He's 100% correct. The downtown area of a number of US cities were basically no go areas for months in May-July of 2020 because of protests? if you are confused because thinking he was talking about the UK - ok. If you are disagreeing while knowing that he/she was talking about the US - then....you are in denial about what it was like in many cities back then.
American voters are going to follow suit this fall. People are tired of extremism on both sides and will vote in the short-term for gridlocked government. The Democrats will win The House with a 12-15 representative majority. The Republicans will take back the Senate with a 2-3 seat cushion.
POTUS is a toss-up right now with a lean towards Trump. That could shift if Biden starts looking strong and commanding on the campaign trail or he drops out and the Dems put up a candidate that makes Trump look like a doddering old fool or crazed madman.
In any event, there won't be a mandate for one party or the other until both parties come to their senses and recognize that Americans are largely centrists that just want to get along and live their lives in peace.

He didn't say "no go areas", he said burned down. Again, which cities were those? He also said it happened in 2016 as well. Again, talking out of his ass, just like you.

Chaz? Floyd autonomous zone? Sky high violent crime in Chicago?

And guarantee they never come close to a majority for a generation.
