Valby is going to BTC. I dont care if you don't believe it’s happening and deal done!
That would literally be the worst place possible for her. She would be the next Chris Derrick/Emily Infeld…just a revolving carousel of injury and cross training.
You do know that Chris Solinski, her former coach at Florida, lives in Eugene and works as a Ducks assistant? BTC is just a uniform. Jerry lets Chris handle Parker's training and XT work, she gets the benefit of Oregon's state-of-the-art facilities, and when she flourishes, everyone benefits.
i noticed in the video she quickly complained about taxes. so how do the state income taxes compare in the various states where top run groups are located?

At least in the past, Ritz has attempted to avoid having multiple runners representing the same country internationally in the same *primary* event. Obvious overlap with Monson there, though its possible he's changed his tune.

Florida has no state income tax.
do you think somebody has to have been paying taxes already to complain about them? im guessing it's a topic that's come up as she and her father analyze the offered contracts and costs of living where they are based.
I think it's just about a given that Valby is going to sign with Nike; HOWEVER, I do not see her moving to Oregon or running with BTC/Jerry/Solinsky. I think she goes to Flagstaff with Mike Smith, who seems to be quite adaptable to training his athletes. Kincaid, Nur, and Rupp are all still Nike sponsored and under him, so he is definitely a "Nike-approved" coach.
You'd think all these brands/teams would've been champing at the bit to sign her, but they weren't. Only the tainted team from which members have been dropping like flies. Makes you wonder.
Didn’t you read the Runners World article? Or is that journalism just idle speculation like this forum?
Not necessarily for distance, but Grant Holloway, Anna Hall, Joseph Fahnbulleh, and many others are still based in Gainesville. The University of Florida has some of the nicest athletic facilities in the entire world, with a full structure of support staff (doctors, trainers, masseuse, strength coach). Given that Valby's cross training program based at Florida clearly is working for her, why change that now?

Of course I know Chris is there. At least spell his name right if you’re going to be snarky.
Ritz or Jerry would be terrible options for her. She needs a Coogan type.
Ritz seems like a nice invested coach, but maybe spread a bit thin training a lot of (foreigners) athletes.
I think what she needs is some coaching that goes beyond standard distance coaching. She needs somebody that understands ‘mechanics’, like Usain Bolt’s coach, Glen Mills, did.
I’m not saying she needs a coach that will work for two years, like Mills did with Bolt, improving her sprint ability. But I’m suggesting some fundamental mechanic instruction. Bekele got basic form instruction from his first coach (key stuff US Pros may not even be aware of).
But I suspect she already has gotten some of this at the University of Florida, based on her improvements over the past few years. But they may need to bring in some biomechanics experts, and fix structural deficiencies.
Hope she doesn’t go with OAC. She’ll be injured like the rest of them in no time. Also she’s not a fit there in general
yeah they dont even have any strength based athletes like Monson or Obiri or Josette. shame
i think you missed the "injured" citation, homie. interestingly, 2 of your 3 mentioned athletes are currently or have recently been injured. at that, i don't think by fit, that the poster was referring to anything other than personality.
