Yes, because Sydney is dominating the event. That's the difference. The 400 hurdles is only exciting if Syd can break the world record. Syd literally beat the field by two seconds. She has plenty of room to spare. Little was did not have that luxury and knew that going in.
There is no difference. Shamier won silver at last year Worlds. Now she will not make the Olympic team. She should have at least placed 3rd. Racing the 400M is taxing on your body. Every round adds more lactic acid that your body cannot get rid of. You are required to race a 400M every day straight. The 200/400 is less stressful on the body and yet there have only ever been four athletes who have successfully done it. And someone must do the two most difficult races in the same championships. Hell no. There is no point to doubling.
And Sydney is dominating the event, because she's focus on one event.
Why don't you suggest that Warholm turn his attention to the 400 and double as well.
She’s a two-time silver WC when Sydney isn’t competing. Still a remarkable athlete, but perhaps a tiny asterisk.
W hurdles is just so deep.
She should try to do a lot of Diamond Leagues and get the title.
That wasn't her personal best. She ran 52.39 and got outdipped by Bol's 52.37 at Stockholm Diamond League 2021. Bol considers that the breakthrough race of her career.
Shamier didn't do anything wrong. Down the stretch she has looked that way for years. She was dependent on the event not getting stronger among the youth. Instead the two USC girls stepped up huge.
Not exactly complicated. Given the high profile since Tokyo there will be superior athletes prioritizing 400 hurdles on both the men's and women's side. Jasmine Jones and Anna Hall are merely among the early examples.
Are you saying running the 200 after a 400 is much easier than the 400 hurdles?
Because he ran 8 races and it takes a lot of energy to run 19.32. Sydney would have to only run 6 races, as they have fewer rounds now.
Are you seriously asking this question? Yes, that is what I am saying. How come you don't know that the 400H is the most difficult event in T&F?
...
The 400m hurdles and 800m are about equal as most difficult running events in track and field. They both require CLOSE to almost the same amount of endurance and speed or anaerobic/aerobic. Until you go all out in either you won't know the pain of either event!
Her arms were flapping like a bird over the hurdles down the stretch. Looked as if she had lost control of her timing.
She ran 52 high. That's a great time. She was the first woman in history to run 52 and come in fourth.
If she had run 3 400m races days earlier, she most likely would have run faster in the 400H and made the team in an individual event. Her form over hurdles 8, 9 and 10 is atrocious.
