To be fair, I am an absolute fan of Geno Auriemma and have liked UConn women's basketball for almost three decades. I was a fan of Diana Taurasi because she invented the trash talk and game play that Ms. Clark uses now. I think that the OGs of the WNBA got a raw deal. It's true and they should feel cheated.
The solution is build up the league like pioneers... what Taurasi should be doing is helping Clark, Reese, Cardoso, Boston, etc. be the representation of the improvement of the league to get people to go to games.
Taurasi should not spite Clark for the attention she gets because if Taurasi can admit that Clark is simply getting the attention finally that all WNBA players deserve (and deserved), she would look like a diplomatic hero for the league.
Diplomacy is why the NBA absolutely loved David Robinson .. and why Diana Taurasi should be the WNBAs next David.
I agree with much of this. For a league that only exists because it's subsidized by the NBA I would think the other players would realize that Clark could be the catalyst that gets them full stands and profitability. And, ultimately, better pay. Instead there's petty jealousy of the woman who is putting fans in the stands in record numbers. For you doubters, check the attendance at Fever games versus non Fever games. The WNBA has a real opportunity to capitalize on Clark's name and they're probably going to blow it. And the WNBA will sink back into the irrelevance that Taurasi, Moore, Parker, Griner, Bird and all the other so-called big names couldn't pull it out of.
Thank you..yes.. this.
The WNBA has a chance with the old players to say... treat the new ones how we should have been treated... make the league for everyone like we should have had.
That's a Valvano stance ... don't give up... don't ever give up..
Ever.

Angel Reese now leads the league in rebounds and set a WNBA RECORD for most consecutive double doubles.
Clark is not going to win rookie of the year.
we all know Clark is going to win and at this rate deservedly so by all metrics
CC currently ranked 6th in the league for fantasy points, AR is 19th
last season Chicago went 18-22 (.450), while Indiana went 13-27 (.325)
currently Chicago is 6-12 (.333), while Indiana is 8-12 (.400) and that is after Indiana started their season out in May going 1-8, while Chicago was 3-3. in June, Indiana was 7-4, while Chicago was 3-8.
Chicago is on pace to have a significantly worse season, while Indiana is on pace to do significantly better
so not only has Caitlin brought more offensive firepower to the table, she's also made her team better

This is another bs talking point with no facts. Find an example please of petty jealousy from an actual wnba player toward Clark.
Wnba players are thrilled with attention, not just Clark, but Reese and Brink getting a lot of attention too. These ladies are not stupid, they are working hard to make more money and the league successful.

Make you a deal. Google "jealousy of Caitlyn Clark" and read a few of the links. Hint: the one by Jason Whitlock is particularly interesting. After that, come back and tell me it's a BS talking point. BTW, a BS talking point for who and for what purpose?

kinda crazy stat: total blocks this season
Angel Reese 6'3": 2 (she can't be playing defense seriously, right?)
Caitlin Clark 6'0": 17 (ranked 13th in the league and not a single woman ahead of CC is shorter than her. in fact there is one woman that is 6'1" and the rest are all 6'3" and taller)
when it comes to rebounds, keep in mind AR has 60% more offensive rebounds than the woman ranking 2nd. combined with AR's abysmal FG%, you have to factor in that she's getting a lot of her rebounds from her own missed shots in the paint
CC is ranked 16th in the league for total rebounds and of the 15 ahead of her there are two that are 6'2" and the rest are 6'3" or taller
"CC has the most turnovers in the league though!" Yes, of course she does: she's the primary ball handler as a rookie and every night gets the absolute best defense from her competitors that know they are on the national stage (and 90%+ envy/hate her). The irony of those competitors locking in with defensive focus they otherwise wouldn't or can't against other women is that it's going to make CC an even better ball handler and passer
further, anyone that does a jump-stop layup on a fastbreak should be immediately taken out of consideration of winning ROY
It's true that she did. I don't have a quote but you could look it up. Taurasi was not friendly about Clark at all
Taurasi’s comments were overblown. This is what she said to Scott Van Pelt:
“Look, SVP, reality is coming,” Taurasi told SportsCenter’s Scott Van Pelt about Clark on April 6. “There’s levels to this thing. And that’s just life. We all went through it. You see it on the NBA side, and you’re going to see it on this side. You look superhuman playing against 18-year-olds, but you’re going to be playing against some grown women that have been playing professional basketball for a long time.”
Taurasi continued: "Not saying Clark’s skills are not gonna translate, because when you’re great at what you do, you’re just gonna get better. But there is gonna be a transition period where you’re gonna have to give yourself some grace as a rookie.”
Nothing wrong with those comments. Taurasi has been proven absolutely right.
I'm a big fan of UConn and Taurasi as well and although her statements were all true she was critical of Clark. While commenting during the NCAA tournament with Bird the two were critical of Clark's style stating that Geno wouldn't let Clark put up those shots and play so freely. I remember the two of them answering in unison "hell no."
As always any problem here is the result of the media

LOL So when I state an opinion you tell me it's a BS talking point and I should provide evidence but when I point to others who say the same thing you tell me to think for myself. You debate very much like someone who doesn't have a valid argument but wants to bluff their way through.

Which WNBA player is jealous of Clark and unhappy about attention (and money) she is bringing to the league?
Note: this does not mean they can't play tough defense against her.
