Not sure how much breaking in spikes need nowadays, but maybe she had a bad blister or two. Back in my day, you needed to run at least a few speed workouts beforehand to break them in, or at least to see if they suited you. It seems like athletes today race in spikes right out of the box.
I noticed it too. In the ncaa she ran in shoes that were not world athletics eligible for races so I assume her racing shoes are now uncomfortable. She needs specially designed shoes, which as an olympian, a sponsor will probably get her.
She ain't no Olympian until she competes in the Olympics.
Can’t tell if PV even wants to be a pro at this point but potential sponsors have missed out on some awesome trials publicity already. Her market value must be through the roof by now.
I noticed she took off her shoes immediately after the 10k. Think this was just for comfort or was it notice that she’s an hot free agent and not advertising for free.
You're over thinking it. looked like 35+ minutes (incl. warmup) in spikes in warm weather pounding a mondo track and a panic to make the uncomfortable feeling go away as soon as possible.
Right. If she cared that much she would have taped over the logos, which I don't think she did.

It certainly looked like her feet were uncomfortable and she couldn't wait to get them off. Not a good look for Nike. I didn't see the athletes wearing other brands rushing to get their shoes off.
I think its just her. She's used to wearing vapors when competing in the NCAA. Obviously she doesn't like wearing spikes but had no choice as the trials have different rules in stack height. No other spike would had made a difference for her.
You’re looking at the wrong piece of that scene. The guy in the Yankees hat next to her who was helping her take off her shoes is Paul Moser, the head of North American athletes at Nike. He was one of the first to congratulate both her and Karissa. Pretty clear she’s signing with Nike.
Now you're getting it. But what about him grabbing those shoes and wisking them away from her and off into the stands. There is more to the story.
You see, I noticed AFTER the athletes would compete, and go down through the tunnel. there was this older lady there, and she was asking athletes to look at their competition shoes. Not sure what she was checking for, but I did see her measure a shoe at some point. Sometimes she just gave a precursory glance and handed it back, and other times, she actually handled the shoe and spent some time examining it.
Was there an attempt to hide something about the shoe that she raced the 10k in? Maybe, maybe not, but it just struck me as odd that some dude who is not her coach, dad, boyfriend, comes over and immediately grabs the shoes and leaves...
She didn’t go down the tunnel right away. She did a lap in her socks, talking to people, signing autographs and taking pictures.
I didn't say she did. I said there was a shoe inspection person in the tunnel who was looking at competition shoes.
It wouldn't have mattered anyway, she didn't have any shoes on her person. As seen on TV, the guy took her shoes from her and then walked up into the stands and disappeared. Please work on your comprehension and ability to understand what is being narrated to you.
I comprehended what you said perfectly. The shoes are uncomfortable, and she knew she was going to be out there for a while. I’m not sure why this is difficult to understand or accept. Schweizer was wearing the same shoes.
I thought everyone took their spikes off shortly after a race. Even when someone starts a thread recommending spikes, most of the comments are "they're number 1 job is speed not comfort."
She's not even close to being unique in removing spikes post race.
Lol yeah. Spikes should be a little tight and uncomfortable. I always finished a race, walked to a place where I could sit down and take my spikes off. Not fun walking in them.

Not sure you do. You don't know if the shoes are uncomfortable to her, you are just surmising. She doesn't have to do a lap in them while greeting fans, but to immediately hand them off to a Nike rep is weird. A parent, coach, significant other, maybe, but to sit down at the edge of the track on the handrail within 1 minute of finishing, and then pass your shoes off. Doesn't seem Kosher.
As far as Schweizer's shoes, I'll take a page out of your book and surmise that maybe on her lap they were passed off too. Maybe they didn't make it down to be inspected i the tunnel either.
As far as difficult things to understand, I don't know why it would be hard for you to understand that something like this is plausible in corporate running America. We have seen much stranger things happen when it comes to shoe and product use over the past 5-10 years. So much so that RULES have now been passed regarding what has happened.
Is it so far out of the realm of possibility that the custom shoe division of that HUGE company could make a shoe that is not ready for prying eyes, have a rising, high profile distance star run in them, and then take them back into custody after the race is over so no questions are asked. Who knows? I am just saying that it was odd the way it played out.
They did the spike/shoe check prior. There was nothing to hide or whisk away. It's been a known fact Nike has been making special shoes for her for every race since NCAA's started. She even said to expect some news in the near future after NCAAs, alluding to this. My guess is they want to make a splash about her shoes when she signs.
