I've heard a story I believe from the 1988 Olympic Trials. Was there a female runner who had fallen out of contention to make the team that then ran off the track and tried to commit suicide by jumping off of a bridge near th...
they went to ciommercial she was up front, when they came back she was dead last and DNF'd. either an injury or she fell. anyone know?
Wow, I said Jack Mullaney happened to her….meaning hiring a coach with no experience affects athletes and it was removed. We can’t be critical of coaches and their athletes performances? These are reasons our sport is not taken seriously. NAZ Elite athletes legit don’t look that great in the most important stage. This is a reasonable discussion point.
Legitimately. There are lots of people who go on instagram prattling on about "mental health" I an effort to get attention, but that seems like a no holds barred cry for help.
She's young. It's only a sport. Life is bigger and there are things out there worth our passion and joy to be found. If she wants to walk away, she should.

I completely agree
I just hope we don’t see in 2 days a LetsRun black page “RIP Krissy Gear”

NAZ Elite is a terrible place for a professional to train.
I think she's one of the kids that just does so well when things are lighthearted and fun. She gets to the big one and it's all business and I think that hit her hard after the first lap. Spends a lap or two trying to shake it off and focus but ultimately that probably added to the panic. Feel bad for her and hope she is back in 4 years. I hope she is okay.
I forgot what podcast she was on but she opened up about self harm in the past. She seemed a little off and distressed this week. Krissy - I hope you get some rest, get what you need to feel better and remember how amazing of a human you are.
Krissy was great last year as a dark horse. She is not nearly as tough when people know what to expect. There are a number of steeple people that are the same age as Krissy that she will never beat. Olivia and Gabi will never lose to Krissy again. They are at a different level.
I don't believe that is true at all. When Krissy Gear is on, she is spectacular. Whatever she is going through, I believe she will be on again in the future. She is a fierce competitor and has so many wonderful performances on her resume. Sometimes it just doesn't come together. Just because she is down now does not mean she will stay down. Her talent will still be there waiting for her when she gets her fire back.
So sorry about this, she's obviously in a really tough place. She seems like such a free-spirited, endearing, generous person (I think back to last year's USAs, when she was asking her fans for THEIR autographs when they approached her). But obviously there's a dark side there too. Hopefully by next year, we'll still have everything that's great and unique about her, but she'll be free from whatever she's suffering through now.
Some of the most celebrated beautiful souls have had demons that they wrestled with. I think it can be a life long struggle with a lot of ups and downs. I get the sense that she is a person who gives 1000% to what matters to her. I hope she does not beat herself up for not having it yesterday. She is still a great runner, and she seems like a true awesome person.

Oh that would be so horrible. Someone like her has so much more to offer this world than just running. I hope she sees that. She is so young. I laugh now at things that I thought were dire in my lower 20's.
My twin brother (who passed away last week) was on the track when Kathy Ormsby ran by. He regrets not following her and was distressed upon hearing the event.
I hope Ms Gear is ok and that remember how challenging the sport can be.
