2 - Compete for another country, where it will be easier to get a spot at LA 28 (she'll probably lose a good amount of followers)
You can't just "compete for another country" unless you have a tie to that other country.
Qatar or Bahrain used to pay athletes to become citizens and represent them at the Olympics. She would probably have to convert though, and I don't know if those countries even allow women to do Steeplechase.
7th place looks good on paper but you need to consider she never put herself in contention to be top 3. Rodenfels, Boreman, and Halladay at least tried to stay with the top pack and were 6-7 seconds ahead of Ostrander through 2k before falling back.
It's an uphill battle for her in the Steeplechase - especially with Gear, Coburn, and Frerichs coming back next year.
Might be time to turn to the roads or to the mountain/ultra running circuit full time.

The top three finished 15 seconds ahead of her. Putting yourself in “contention” just to blow up horribly isn’t a great strategy.
She has already turned to running trails full time. That is why this result is impressive. No reason to get all down about it, this was a really good result.
She is in the shape of her life right now. She is experienced enough to not take it for granted.
She is ranked 20th in the world right now in the Steeple. She should go to Europe and run a few races there. See how far she can bring down her PBs. You never know if it will continue or not.
If a 20th ranked person feels that they need to go on the road, then not too many people should be on the track. She is 0.06 away from 19th, 0.20 away from 18th...
I don't see why she should give up on Olympic dream. She's 27 years old. Howard is 31 years old.
She has a super suportive coach, a good environment.
What stops her from being a sub 9:10 woman? The US is so strong in the women steeple however, it's not even funny.

I think the point was if this was only a Diamond League meet Allie is probably 10th place. Halladay, Rosenfeld, and Boreman would run smarter.
With Coburn, Courtney and Gear at 100% and some young talents improving faster than her like Jolly, Ostrander might not make the USA final next year.

Halladay and Rodenfels still set PBs and Boreman’s PB is slower than Allie ran. At this point they all have PBs slower than Allie. It is a bit presumptuous to think they would all just beat her in a DL.
You realize she's improved substantially and is on quite an upward trend... SINCE... getting on the road to recovery from her eating disorder, right? Are you just into ruining people's lives? I have to assume you are just a troll. I will stop the feeding.
She had Covid a couple of weeks ago, so that was not ideal right before the trials. Maybe she would have run a few seconds faster....9:18 or so, which is a very good time. However the top three finishers are flirting with 9:00. Four years from now you have to be under 9:10 to even have a shot at the team. She could give that a try but do semi-ultra trail races is not a good way to stay away from injuries.
ESP right now, if she tried the Steeplechase would run at least 8:55.....something to think about.

8:55… Or twist her ankle in the water jump or bang her knee on the last barrier or…
Weird vibe to this thread but 31 in 2028 isn't too old to stick to the steeple/track stuff imo. She can get better 3k steeple/5k/10k. Do what makes you happy. Do road races or trail races. But making the Olympic team on the track means dedicating yourself to that process. Can't have < 1 year of focused training to make it happen. She had a great race at the Trials. She was the best of the rest after the contenders took off. It didn't seem like she wanted to see what was possible. Bad positioning towards the back when she was better than people on the start list. Missed the move that broke it open. Was never going to claw her way back. Outran everyone else. She ran a huge PB so idk how much was left in the tank but it'll come with experience/confidence. She's a huge talent. Can keep working hard & put herself in a position to go with the leaders in 4 years.
