Yeah they are older but all three of them have utterly collapsed in performance this year so far. Elaine ran 10.7 last year and is running 11.3 this year. Shelly opened with 10.89 last year and 11.15 this year despite a much later opener. Sherika was 10.6 and 21.4 last year and is running mid 22 this year without a single 100m. This has nothing to do with age. Three separate, superstar women who all run in the same country and transformed magically under the same coach, do not all collapse in performance in the same year without there being a common denominator.

she’s already 32… though SAFP managed to medal at 36/37 so I suppose it’s possible
How SAFP was able to run her fastest times for an entire season at mid 30s is something I still do not understand. Right up there with Gatlin running faster when he was older and apparently not on PEDs than he ever did when he was younger and on PEDs. The Lord sure move in mysterious ways...
There is the caveat that you continue to benefit from PED usage long after you’ve stopped using them, especially if you already are massively talented and continue to train (as Gatlin did) at the highest level. Honest question, does anyone know of any genetics-based scientific studies that help explain Jamaica’s relative dominance at the short sprints, particularly over the past couple decades? It’s always blown my mind that a small island country without the vast institutional advantages of the US can consistently produce the best sprinters in the world.

Like Kenya and Ethiopia's dominance at the distance events.

Happy birthday to one of the greats. She was the random celebrity birthday mentioned today on the radio which was odd since it's never been someone from T&F in my memory. It would certainly be a better bday for her if she could fight for an olympic berth.
