Would guess it's a 4-year. Most contracts signed now will cover the next Olympic cycle. Only mainstream exposure the sport gets, so no real reason to pay someone otherwise.

Uncle is getting 2k per month plus gear at best
where are you guys getting these numbers and time periods from? People are not getting paid that much. My guess is a year at maybe 20 grand. These companies don't have that kind of money to throw around.
I used to have a handle on this. I would guess..$60-75K, gear , expenses to meets, and performance bonuses for making teams. Coaching, usually, usually comes out of athlete's end, as part of a group it gets somewhat deferred. If I am wrong on this, I am sure I will be quickly corrected. LOL>

Also wanted to throw this old Lap Count interview up that Holt did in 2022. This is where I became a fan and I think it's really cool to revisit now that he got his deal. Whatever happens after this, he really put himself out there and worked his ass off for it. I loved this quote about how he got started in the sport after being cut from other sports: "No one gave a crap about me, but, you know, I could prove myself because I could bet on myself. And that's what I love about this sport: if you have the willpower, you can prove your worth."
I wonder how much less it is than what he was offered before the 1500m…
What a waste for Puma, and there shoes suck
HOLTAMANIA!!!!
This is big…just like the lincoln log I left in the sandpit at south eugene high. Hope it didn’t ruin the commitment shoot 📸. Congrats eric!
(Better go change, this is getting liquidy…)
Yeah, but he spent most of that interview saying that he had so much "self-doubt" and so many "insecurities" that he needed the approval of his coaches in order to succeed.
That's literally what he says:
"I'm the type of runner that needs a coach to believe in me as much as I believe in myself. I don't I don't want to blame Binghamton, it wasn’t entirely their fault, but..."
He even says that it was his coaches who turned his career around:
"The first thing I asked Trautman and Nohilly was ‘what do you guys think I could run?” And Trautman was like ‘I don’t know, 3:52?’ And that's all I needed..."
The saddest part of that interview that Holt never got that his problem wasn't that other people didn't believe in him -- his problem was that he let other people define him.
I don't see anything that suggests he has fixed that basic problem.
So happy for him. He deserves to be happy.
Huh? Puma made like $350+million in income last year, I'm sure they can toss $50-75K to a runner for a couple of years.
How did he get a contract before Parker Valby!!
I don't think he was cut from other sports because of his potential but because he's borderline autistic and seems like a nightmare in a team sport.
I still won't buy anything Puma
