For the most part, marathons are for slow runners. Fast runners run on a track. If you can't make it there (or can't make it there anymore) you move to shorter road races. If you can't make it there (or you are starting to slow) you move to the marathon.
When someone says they run marathons, I just assume they are too slow to do anything else.
Sure there are a few good runners running marathons, but for the most are just too slow.
If you downvote the post, I'm just going to assume you're a slow runner running marathons.
I downvoted your post assuming you're on welfare.
Two things:
1) I am on welfare, though I prefer you call it public assistance. (Welfare is a degrading term)
Talk about nails on a chalkboard. Can you use AI to fix this for you. In your rush to provide examples, you butchered the rest of your sentence, making two of them incorrect.
Can you show me my mistakes? You mean mean when I typed marathon twice? That is just a typo. I don't actually think it is called the "Boston Marathon marathon." Is there a second mistake?
I am not a jerk about typos. We all make those.
It is not knowing that the past tense of eat is ate or "have eaten." It would drive us all insane if people just walked around town saying, "I've ate so much today. I'm stuffed!" That is how it feels when people say, "I've ran a lot of marathons in my life."
So help me out, man. Seems you are saying some types of mistakes are okay. Like you are cool with them. But other mistakes are just no bueno and you have to step in and straighten someone out?
My dear, now please exhort people to write the past tense (and past participle) of "to lead" as "led."
I'm sure you'll be equally successful.
The problem with some verbs is that the past tense sounds like the present tense of a different verb. That creates confusion. I don't expect anyone to remember this or use these correctly:
Lie > Lied > Have Lied (tell an untruth)
Lie > Lay > Have Lain (recline as onto a couch or bed)
Lay > Laid > Have Laid (set something down in a flat/prone position)
Lead > Led > Have Led (to take control of a route or situation)
But for God's sake, we are runners! We can learn RUN > RAN > HAVE RUN since we use it on every thread!
So help me out, man. Seems you are saying some types of mistakes are okay. Like you are cool with them. But other mistakes are just no bueno and you have to step in and straighten someone out?
Humanity tends to judge actual ignorance more harshly than accidents. That is why I also think certain things (like not knowing one's own language) are worse than others (like a typo).
Just like smacking someone on purpose is worse than bumping someone on accident, even if the force used is the same.
Making predictions about your marathon time from a 10+ year old much shorter race doesn't count, right?
+1
I just chuckle when someone says they have never run a marathon or don't plan to ever run one. The thon proves that you are tough as fukk and have character, and you deserve respect. When you wear your finishers medal, you should be entitled to a date with any girl at the bar, and people who run thons should be exempt from paying taxes or something as an incentive

Thon? I chuckle when I hear that. You sound soft as banana break. Thon? LOL
