I don't know about each state's policies but in NY there isn't an Aug 1 or Sep 1 cutoff. A January 2002 birthday and Dec 2002 birthday are in the same grade. Many parents choose to reclassify their kids that are born late in the year but there's not a cutoff as you stated. Jan-June kids graduate at 18 and July-Dec kids graduate at 17.
I said she paced for 4600, but I meant 4200. If the top two could’ve pushed a little harder earlier, Schweizer might’ve cracked, opening the door for Valby. She is an aerobic machine. Hopefully that metronome tactic can work at 10,000, but she will need to wind it down from about 2000m out.
Oh, and she didn’t skip a grade. Just very young is all.
She wasn’t beating Karissa last night even if it was faster earlier. Why did everyone think Karissa was so vunerable? She is not as good of a kicker as ESP and Cranny, but her PRs at 5/10 are 14:26 and 30:15. Karissa being in 14:40-45 shape 8 months post op shouldn’t be a surprise. She’s prob gonna beat Valby in the 10k as well. Valby just doesn’t have the legs to run sub-14:50 yet.

Karissa last 800: 67/66
Valby last 800: 68/71
Fair enough, good post.
Maybe Valby still gets to go in the 5000 if St. Pierre elects to only run the 1500, but I still hope she makes the team in the 10,000. Seems like that could be her distance. But her season already has been very long.

Everyone thought Karissa so vulnerable because before Trials she didn’t do anything to show she was close to 100% yet. Prime Karissa is an absolute terror to race, but the long long long surgery recovery didn’t seem hopeful of getting quite back to this level. She had a great impressive race last night.
Telling a lie does not give you credibility. What state? What is your birth date? Unless CT, it is not the norm. Even CT, 2/3 start college at 18. Pretty much everywhere else, everyone starts at 18.
I asked if CT but I don't think you really know which is why you are afraid to answer. I can't believe how many posters don't understand this even though the chart has been posted. Parker was in the wrong grade in Florida.
So she has been in the wrong grade all the time? No wonder some subjects appear too hard for her. That’s a crime committed by the state of Florida.
Always quick to add something that adds nothing other than making you look smug. The poster called her a 4:50 miler. You come here to point out that she ran faster than that for an entire 5k.
no I came to correct the statement that she ran 4:40 pace for 5k. Not sure if it makes me look smug or the poster look dumb. Or maybe both.
I stand corrected, she ran 4:31 in the DMR, which, given the rolling start, is about 68 second 400 pace. I simply was pointing out that she has great endurance, but not great speed. The women she lost to (who have run 14:26, 14:33 and 14:34 respectively) have much better speed (3:56, 3:58 and 4:00 for 1500 and 4:16, 4:16 and 4:27 for the mile). So what I should have said was 4:16 milers vs 4:32 miler, although her official mile PR from 2019 is about 4:50

my wording was sloppy. When I used the term "the poster" I was referring to the poster who said 4:40 per mile. I was not trying to correct the 4:50 miler term, which I assumed was somewhat in jest.
