He's already broken the HSR and junior world record for 400 at 15 years old. He's pretty close to being an Olympian. I don't see how he's not in the relay pool if he makes it to the final. I think he goes pro right after the trials are over.
Imagine Quincy anchoring the United States 4x400 to gold....as a high school sophomore.
I hope he Competes in NCAA, he could win Outdoors 4 Years in a Row, Angela Williams of USC did that in the 100, I think that is the last time in a running event someone won 4 NCAA titles in a Row, Wilson would have a great chance to do that, but my guess is he turns Pro, All The NCAA Athletes you to have the Loyalty to stay the whole time, from when they only got 3 years, now the trend is everyone turns Pro, John Wooden said it helps team unity to be there for 4 years (ALL of Wooden's Players stayed The Whole Time from when they were only allowed to play 3 Years) Coaches Today do not have Wooden's ability to keep Teams together fo 4 Years, Different Sport, but Hopefully Quincy Wilson is like Kareem Abdul Jabbar AKA Lew Alcindor, Bill Walton and others who were good enough to turn PRO, but had the Loyalty to stay 4 Years.

There's absolute no way I can see him competing in the NCAA at all. He could potentially be running sub 44 as a junior in HS next year.
Before NIL was a thing, I'd say he would have already jumped. However, he's got himself a nice deal with New Balance and his family isn't hurting for cash.
The money will be waiting on the other side of graduation.
Is there any reason why you get more cash by going pro than doifhh by a NIL? Isn’t a NIL really just a shoe contract that can’t have performance incentives? Course after the fact they can pay him 100k to say, I made the Olympic team wearing your spikes….
Going pro so you aim to peak in August for WC and diamond league might make sense. Or to join some pro group. But I don’t think I would mess with something that is working well…
to me it's do you turn out to be lyles or knighton. lyles doesn't need college. success + bank. to the point he may never need a real job. i don't know if his perennial bridesmaid does as well financially or athletically, couldn't have used a NCAA championship or two. now fighting a doping suspension. when knighton is done with track, is he "set for life?" future after this in coaching, considering what just happened?
and you don't know if you're lyles or knighton when you start.
it's not a $20m/yr NFL deal, the folks saying go pro exaggerate how much a pro track athlete makes.

NIL doesn’t have performance incentives in the same way that the starting qb at Alabama has equal value to a backup lineman at a random g5 school. There are so many ways to get around it anyway, especially with more recent settlements basically blowing up any limits the ncaa still had.
And while I agree about peaking in August, he could probably easily win his league / state meet or even nationals while still in base.
if he wins an olympic medal maybe you take the risk. otherwise i say you go to college.
i don't think some folks get that once you go pro the expenses of a track season go from your school to you personally. you can negotiate fees and chase prize money to offset the costs of flying to europe and living there, but then it starts mattering exactly how high you are finishing in these pro meets.
the sponsorship is nice but in track that's like your base salary. that sponsorship is going to depend exactly how good you are finishing and not just how excited we are.
people also aren't considering it's a young man's sport and when you turn 30 what is plan B and do you have enough made and saved to not need a second career, or to afford college at that point.

He needs to stay in the same program but go pro. Racing like he has all year got him ready and his coaches clearly know what they’re doing. Let me him develop til he levels out some then that’s when you switch things up. The worst thing people can do is rush this kid’s success.
Bullís is basically a small college anyway with a shiitt ton of money.

Or This Year, or Maybe even this Meet, that 44.66 looked VERY Easy, I Hope NIL gives him $100 Million Dollars and he stays in College all 4 Years, He will have Friends and lots of Young Woman to choose from, without being on a College Team, It is hard to get Friends and hard to meet Young Woman as without being on the team, they don't trust you for whatever reason, If he competes in problem those problems are solved, NIL will give him more than he could spend if he wanted to.
This kid could be a world-beater before he’s 20. If you’re ready to be the best in the world, or perhaps the best in the history of the world, why bother with NCAA?
And someone in this thread talking about a Penn relays 4x4? What? Who cares? We are talking about one of the fastest people to ever live, he knows it, everyone around him knows it, and they will plan accordingly.
Imagine Quincy anchoring the United States 4x400 to gold....as a high school sophomore.
He will run 3rd leg. Rai Benjamin will anchor.
What a story it would be! But hold on a minute. There are 13 runners in the 400 semis with PBs faster than Wilson’s, 6 have run faster this season. So it’s premature to give him the third leg on the Paris 4x4 just yet. As for going pro, how ‘bout run SEC instead. Seems to me, a whole bunch of king he!! studs run the 400 for Florida, Arkansas, A&M, Alabama, etc. The Euro record-holder would often be an also-ran at the SEC meet. And with NIL, Wilson’s income wouldn’t suffer greatly if he ran for Florida. All that said, I’d love to see him and Norman break 44 on Monday.
He absolutely needs to finish high school first. Pro contracts will be waiting for him then, and it honestly would be a disservice to him for anyone to try and sign him to a pro deal until his last semester when graduation is eminent. For now he will have NIL deals swooning for him.
Finishing high school in the US is a joke. He can absolutely continue to prioritize developing into the 400 GOAT over "finishing" it. The US scholastic system and NCAA are great for most but a waste for talent like this.
He needs to work on his form. Hes running amazingly, but if he stops looking for ducks and leaning back 90% of the races, he'll be even better.
Maybe leave Bullis and go somewhere where his coach doesn't run him to death forthe coaches own ego.
Dude is not physically matured yet.. once he "fills in" your concerns over his form will evaporate. Also, perhaps his form is optimal and not everyone else's. Michael Johnson had "terrible" form too.
I am on the finish high school with your NIL deal track as mentioned previously by others. After high school, I cringe at the NCAA level since it is influx at this time. Who knows what major universities are going to do with track and field programs now that pay has been authorized. A strong case can be made for going pro after high school while attending a great academic institution close to a respected club coach with a quarter mile program.
I actually feel kind of bad for him ... significant improvement gets very, very hard now. A 46.0-46.5 high schooler has the possibility of improving 2-3 seconds over his career if he becomes really elite. For Wilson, it's 1 to 1.5 seconds.
