I find runners to follow on Strava by checking the "segment"s in my regular runs. I find runners in my area and can tell who's in my category. Often they're not in any running groups but the segments reveal them.
Do you need to pay for the subscription to see segments and who's running them? And is it really $80 per year? That seems pretty steep. I've thought about using Strava to find other runners nearby to link up with, but I'm also not sure what the social vibe is on there.... Meaning is the app geared more towards pre-existing friends/teammates who want to share their runs, versus a way to form new connections with other local runners.
