Never understood why people let USA trials races be slow if they need the standard. Literally just go to the front? Or if you secretly know you're not fit enough to get the standard anyways, then don't complain when you follow behind a tactical race. If you are fit enough but not brave enough to take it out, then that's also a skill issue. Why should someone else make the race fast and make it easier for you to make the team? It's an individual sport after all
She ran a 42 second PR in the race. She ran her first two 10,000s only the previous month, and cut her PR down by 2:19. You really think she should call herself out for running "slow"?
Her 5,000 PR was 15:45 at the time and she ran faster than that in the back half of the race. One year before this, her 5,000 PR was 16:25. She wasn't a veteran pro who had time to plan out when to hit standards. She was a college student doing the NCAA schedule.
I interpreted it differently. She is not upset about the slow pace she was upset about Shalane slowing the pace so abruptly (to help a teammate) to cause the group to collide and her to fall.
Yeah Shalane went to the front and slowed things down after Uhl's shoe came untied, so that Uhl could stop and tie her shoe and still be able to catch back up

Maybe. But for some reason, she also tagged @nike, seemingly indicating that it is Nike's fault for allowing this to happen.
This combined with her previous insta post is the ultimate cry for help. Tosh has been hurt and knows she has no chance to be an Olympian and looks back 12 YEARS to her best chance. She was healthy for 3 years in a row while with Brooks and was on a trajectory to be an Olympian. She fired her Agent who had her on the right track to grab a bag of cash from Puma. Puma forced her to run the marathon before she was ready and now she sees the writing on the wall. NEVER AN OLYMPIAN.
I like Natosha bc she’s not your cookie cutter American female distance runner. At the same time, it’s probably not healthy for her to keep going back to 2012. She finally made a Worlds team in a very competitive environment.
Most long distance runners are sort of weird to an extent. I mean, look at this message board …
Her fault. She could lead and ensure an honest pace
And also ensure she ran fast enough earlier in the season to not need the standard at the championship race.
Does any one have the full 2012 trials 10000 video? Or even the NCAA 10000 video from that year? She ran tough as hell in both of those races. There were not nearly the same kind of curated 10000 time trials back then like we have now. You both are fools.
Nike has done a lot of rotten things, but their athletes employing race strategy in a...race...is not one of them. I felt so bad for Natosha when this happened. But transforming herself into some sort of victim when she just isn't one in this scenario is stupid.
Why didn't she get the standard earlier than the trials?
she also sort of insinuates that 4th and 7th weren't deserving, but they made it because they HAD THE STANDARD.

Deborah Maier made a move to push the pace in that race, as I recall. No one went with her
