Ten years ago it would have happened. Her times are pretty fast. It's just not as fast as some of her peers but enough to get a pro contract. I guess her looks certainly helped. It helps to look good in life. Still not sure why she did the arm tattoo.
does she even have that big of a following to be considered an "influencer?" not really. She's kind of boring and just likes posting "edgy" shots of her working out.

Nope. Having 30k followers on instagram is not influencer material.
I'm sure she is a super cool person IRL, but the tattoos are seriously godawful. A hand tattoo? Really? She is pretty but has trashed her looks with the tats. It's not 2012 anymore...
Smart on ASICS. Her dating Cooper Teare is better marketing for them than Rachel herself. We already know he makes a cute after race post for each race she runs, and now it will have ASICS all over it! Genius!
I wonder if ASICS is interested in their shoes being most frequently photographed pointed to the right.
Their newest spokesperson has long turned her head to the right, while posing for just about any photograph, because she somehow feels that the left side of her face is what best contributes to her being God's Gift to Men. Maybe if she was a Hollywood actress or a supermodel formerly married to retired GOAT Tom Brady (the ex-football dude, not the runner), that affectation would seem more attractive. But she ain't, and it's a turn-off to many (like me).
To the best of my knowledge she's not yet an "it" girl out in the modeling or film/TV worlds. Will she be an "it" girl on the track? I wouldn't count on it, but my track (ahem) record on predictions isn't the best.
Still, 4:06.67, her best 1500m, is (World Athletics list) the 80th best time in the world in 2024. That's a long way from even a sub-4 1500m run, which still isn't a mark of greatness these days. Imagine a professional 20-something male 4:06 miler. That time, at any age, is obviously good, but the jump to 3:59.9 is likely never going to come, even with supershoes, modern training, and PEDs.
But maybe that 4:06 male miler can gain a few seconds and win an ASICS sponsorship by turning his head to the right when posing for photos.
I mean she has a 4:06 this year. She won the road US mile title right? I feel like she deserves it at this point. A year ago her getting a contract would have been unthinkable. But most people in the 4:06 range have a deal I would imagine:
yeah good for her-it seemed to be that her college career was stagnating several years ago while she was at Villanova...
Second, the 80th best time in the world for men's 1500m is 3:35. There are lots of sponsored athletes in that range. A 4:06 men's mile would be around 550th in the world this year. Find a new slant.

Hey, Braindrain, guess what I wrote? I'll tell you: "Still, 4:06.67, her best 1500m, is (World Athletics list) the 80th best time in the world in 2024." 80th best time for women, OBVIOUSLY. But maybe you don't know that Rachel McArthur, at last word, was a FEMALE running in the women's 1500, not a MALE running the men's 1500.
Oy, vat a dumbo you are!
Since I posted, McArthur's ranking has slipped to 82nd. It will change as new times are compiled. You'll see her in the list found here:
Hey, I'd like to be 82nd in the world and I'm about 82nd in my neighborhood, and it's not her fault that she got a contract from ASICS, but I wonder if ASICS people were blinded by the light in her case. Time will tell, won't it? Now, smile for the camera, Touch grass brother, and don't forget to turn your head to the right.

The reality is that a brand will sell more shoes with an athlete like Rachel McArthur than somebody like Eric Holt.
It doesn't matter what sport you are in, often being a big social media platform makes you a lot more valuable than just pure merit alone.
Correct. This is also why Jake Paul has made more money than 99% of boxing champions despite not being particularly great at it. He has a massive audience.

4:06 is deserving of a pro deal.
It also helps that she's good looking. Let's be honest, life is easier when you're attractive.
