Takes the lead with a mile to go at closes her last 4 laps in roughly 4:21 (at around 5500 feet in elevation), dropping Beatrice Chebet in the process. Good luck to anyone who wants to beat her in Paris.
Every time she steps on the track she proves her rep as high responder to drugs.
Progression isn't always linear. Even the best in the world have bad days and have to fight through adversity. I am not surprised she finished that quickly. She is very talented
DIdn't someone here post her workout a month ago wondering why her coach would reveal such a thing on a struggling Faith?
yeah, it's just odd. going from struggling through a typical session because of injury setback and gasping at the trackside 4 weeks ago to hitting her last 4 laps in 4:21 at altitude. it's difficult to know what is real in athletics anymore.
I truly do not get this. Why is this evidence of doping?
We know that Kipyegon ran 3:49/14:05 last year. We obviously cannot know if she is clean. Her race at Kenyan trials was impressive, but consistent with what we've seen of her before.
But why would a hypothetical doping 3:49/14:05 athlete be able to get in shape faster than a clean 3:49/14:05 athlete? A completely equivalent question is: why would a doping athlete plateau sooner than a clean athlete?
Lots of injuries, you're a doper No injuries, you're a doper Consistent racer, obvious inhuman doper Inconsistent racer, doper evading the tests Big kick, doper who let the mask slip No kick, EPO-per Big celebration, not tired enough No celebration, guilty conscience Not well-liked, all your competitors know you dope Well-liked, phony, manipulative doper Big improvement, that's when you started doping Multiple big improvements, guess you're just getting better at doping Major regression, this is you off the juice
Seems like the only way you're not a doper is if you're a phenom at 15 (because no 15-year-old would ever dope, and clean athletes always have perfectly even progressions), or if you get banned (It was the system's fault! Must have been a contaimnated supplement! Grey area doping implies no real doping!)

You summed it perfectly. Regardless of whether or not athletes are doping, the arguments and logic offered here on LRC are laughably inconsistent and flimsy.

You can't say that. The mods have decreed that to raise the issue of Kenyan doping - which is unparalleled in the sport - in the context of Kenyan running is "off topic". It's like going back to 1983 to see Kratochvilova running but we aren't allowed to put it in the context of E Bloc doping.
I recall seeing Kipyegon getting soundly beaten by Hassan in the world championships a few years ago. She is nothing like that runner today. It's just like Jarmila and the good old days.

I take it you're referring to those that insist their favourite athletes are clean?

Man, your schtick is tiring!
Kipyegon was Olympic champ in 2016. Are you saying that she was clean then? News to me that you think an Olympic champ could be clean these days!
Or are you saying that she was doping then, but now she's "really doping". She was already a super saiyan doper but now she's super saiyan 4?
It's not just that all athletes are doping but that all improvements are due to doping?

You appear to have followed what different posters say on Letsrun but not what has actually been happening in the sport and especially Kenyan running. Their dopers who are being busted are mentioned in weekly despatches. If it was happening to any other country none of their runners would be believed to be clean and there would be calls for a national ban. It defies belief to think that a runner who is by far better than any other - anywhere - is clean while her national sport is dirty. It is like trusting that the very best cyclist in the T d F is clean while the peloton is juiced to the gills. But we've been there, haven't we?

It's not just that all athletes are doping but that all improvements are due to doping?
She won at Rio - in 4:08 - but for years her best 1500 was 3:56 and then she made a huge jump to 3:51 in 2021. Then more recently came 3:49 and 14min for the 5k. That is off the charts for a woman. She is a conspicuously faster athlete than she was a few years back and as I said she was easily beaten by Hassan in a championship final. She could well have been doping earlier in her career but doping isnt necessarily a static or consistent process - the science is always developing but athletes also have to constantly keep ahead of the testers. But for you to believe she is clean you have to believe she is better - far better - than any doped athlete in the sport and has remained impervious to the endemic and even systemic doping that occurs throughout Kenyan running.

Oh so we are just going to ignore the fact that she ran 3.54.22 in that final in Doha in 19?
3.53. 98 in Florence in '21
3.51.07 in Monaco '21 then 3.50 in Monaco '22
and finally 3.49 in Rome if anything she took the stairs dropping her PBs like Tsegay.
YOUR NARRATIVE IS MOOT.
For context, Hassan took the lift and went from 3.56. straight to 3.51 and has never run that faster than 3.53.60 in the years since.

Remember Llandis' miracle TdF over night, after he was trashed the day before? Testo gave him wonder healing + recovery. Similarly, blood infusions and EPO give your VO2max a boost almost spontaneously - remember for what the other Sang athletes got banned?

You won't want to hear it but I don't find Hassan's achievements credible either. But this is the sport.

Very tiring. Also fails to mention that she was coming back from giving birth that year and did not have her normal build up. Sort of important context for her getting beat by Hassan that day.
