First, it is important to think critically about censorship and the difference between good taste and the memory hole. I think in this case, it may be better to keep the young children's concerns front and center. Not Stalinist to think about how this might impact the lives of young kids who have (allegedly) been the victims of abuse. Caution is the way to go.
Second, this is not a new thing for Norway. After the publication of Knausgaard's My Struggle, many Norwegians where unwillingly forced into the spotlight as characters they didn't ask to play. Not public figures, mind you, but normal folks who suddenly found their stupid decisions at age 12 or 18 written into a global best seller. So there might be some sensitivity with this kind of decision, especially in a country where you're only a degree or two away from everyone else:
The documentary isn't a public service expose of events or people that we should know about, like a political or investigative documentary. It is a human interest story and so the broadcasters have taken into account the effect on certain humans involved in broadcasting the programme at this time. Sensitivity, such as this, was not a Stalinist trait.

Waiting for the next one to be about Indian athletes not having good enough genetics to compete on the global stage despite having such a huge population. Cannot freakin wait!
I never saw the TV show, but if there is a reality show that includes minor children, you’re probably better off not airing it. They can’t make those decisions for themselves, and by the time they can, it might be too late to recover from whatever damage was done.
Reality TV is best left to stupid adults in hot tubs trying to pretend they’re falling in love. The girls need to be hot, though. No 6’s in bikinis for me, thank you.

Me too. I can't help clicking to see what blinkered nuttiness is next. But that's a problem: we all keep clicking, so Letsrun concludes that Rojo is excellent at driving "engagement," without considering the ongoing loss of credibility and civility. The tragedy of social media exemplified.
That being said, I think I'm going to stick with my original conclusion. Do not depublish it. That's the type of thing the CCCP or Stalin would do. If it's stressful to a family member, there is a simple solution. Don't watch it. As a world, we can't be simply getting rid of everything in the world that is stressful or unpleasant. We shouldn't erase unpleasant things from the past but learn from them.
Are we supposed to delete the Cosby show, not talk about slavery, etc?
I think the show should stay but should include a disclaimer before it airs.

That is so unfair to boomers. Most boomers are not like Rojo. Just sayin...

The thing is this thread would be engaging without the whole random "THIS IS TOTALTARIAN LIKE STALIN thing", we're just as obsessed with the Ingebrigtsen's as we are with stupid nonsense.
Though I would like to address:
USA media is heavily homongonated and owned by a select few coroporate interest who heavily push their agendas, our politicians neglect to discuss actual policy or compromise anymore but create division over "culture wars" while the actual policy and governance decisions are relugated to think tanks and the revolving door quid pro quo of industry and regulatory agencies. Our theatrical divisive two party system has actually given us very totalitarian shawdowy shady corporate governance, and it is most visible on the supreme court where 6 out of 9 life appointed justices are members of a ideological organization that gets mysterious multi billion donations from who knows where exactly.
All of the bad faith throwing around of "Hitler, Stalin, Fascism" really demostrates a very poor historical understanding of most about the complicated upheavels of the early 20th century. Fascism is in fact a product of the liberal nation state, and the nation building of a state like the USA in fact did inspire German nationalist many of whom went on to be Nazis.
Americans deluded view of themselves is apparent in their poor analysis of postmodern illiberal democracies like Russia. Putin has even managed to gain a sort of populist appeal with some Americans with his harsh critisms of western "democracy". Few actually engage with the history of post USSR Russia-US relations however to see how Putin's deflections of critism actually is build upon legitimate points. American elites endulge a fantasy that Yeltsin ran a popular democratic regime that Putin undermined and destroyed. However by 1993 Yeltsin was already extremely unpopular, and used military force to dissolve a parliment that was resisting his instituiton of IMF dictated "shock therapy". In 1996 the United States helped RIG the election for Yeltsin. While building this crony capitalist hell following the plan of western policy makers, Yeltsin also had attempts at integration with the west be rejected or not taken seriously by western leaders, a frustration which probably influenced the decision to make Putin his successor, though Putin also publically sought closer ties with the west up until 2006.
My point with that diatribe is that the dystopian postmodern dynamics of Russia today is a pretty direct reflection of American society, which should really give "freedom loving" Americans pause about how exactly they got here. The academic terms for this political dynamic is "managed democracy", or even "inverted totalitarianism". I'd like to reemphaisze the role of the IMF in creating olgarchic Russia, I earlier addressed how the US political dichotomy doesn't really actually effect things like monetary policy, indeed Biden and Trump appointed the same man to head the fed. The history of that hidden consensus is quite eyebrow raising, I suggest researching US involvement in the Fascist Pinochet regime in Chile and how that was used as a testing ground for the "neoliberal" economic policies that would replace the "embedded liberalism" of the post ww2 era.
Norway isn't the paradise American leftist want it to be, but they do have a much more vibrant political system that is better at encouraging the participation of the populus and reflecting their concerns. Additionally traditional liberal values like freedom of speech and the press have been far better preserved than they have been in the United States. A media agency considering pulling a program that is a deep dive into the private lifes of people who may no longer want that exposed so readily to the public is evidence of Norway being totaltarian?
There's a famous essay by Orwell where he discusses the state of political discourse after WW2, where he laments that words like "Fascism", "Communism", "democracy", etc all loat their meaning as they get used by commentators to meanwhatever they want it to mean. Hair brained takes like rojos illiustrate the exact danger orwell saw in that development. Not only is it concerning that people are not able to sensibly and critically reflect about the society they live in, but the rhetorical pollution also makes it extremely difficult for knowledgable people to actually discuss the important intricacies of such topics. Such obfuscation and confusion makes political organization among the masses difficult thus making it easier for society to be managed by elitist interest.
I subscribed to a 2nd Norwegian newpspaer today VL and was catching up on the Ingebrigtsen news.
There are a series of articles debating whether Team Ingebrigtsen - the documentary ont he family - should be removed as it might be stressful to the family.
//Snip// Drivel drivel drivel......Stalin, lack of sense...drivel //
If there ever was any doubt about the lack of intelligence here, this leaves no doubt.
How about we publish some stuff about your life including (god forbid you have any) minor children?
Notwithstanding that by Godwins Law, this thread should only have had one post, what dictators really did , was things like deleting comments they didn't like.\

The whole thing was kicked off when critic Emil André Erstad wrote a piece saying the whole series should be taken down.
He says that a family member emailed the production team 10 months before the final shows aired and told them to pay special attention to the daughter who is the alleged victim of Gjert's physical abuse. That criticism however didn't make it to the actual broadcaster - NRK - until years after it aired.
The e-mail with the serious warning did not go directly to NRK, but to the production company Zapaca Film. The sender wrote that "you should think carefully about how you present Gjert in particular".
After that was published, Peter Wallace, who is in charge of external content for NRK, wrote a column reminding everyone correctly that it's important to realize nothing has legally been established in the case and that their is a presumption of innocence. He also said thought that if any family member told them it was super stressful, they might take it down before the Gjert's trial concluded.
Today, a lawyer for 5 of the 7 children Mette Yvonne Larsen told the press that the series is stressful to the kids and that he emailed NRK today to tell them that.
My thoughts.
When I first saw the headline that NRK may depublish the series, I must admit I couldn't believe it but decided I needed to learn the details. That's why I subscribed to the paper.
The fact that people were writing out of concern about a minor before it aired does give me a little bit of concern. THat most definitely should have been discussed with NRK. Also the fact that much of the series was about minor children who really can't consent to being part of the show due to power dynamic also complicates things a bit.
That being said, I think I'm going to stick with my original conclusion. Do not depublish it. That's the type of thing the CCCP or Stalin would do. Interesting post from someone who supports a political party in this country that is in favor of banning books, stopping the teaching of slavery and other race history because it makes some children feel uncomfortable, in some cases, in favor of child, labor, etc.
