Mills would be the favourite for the final spot but he has a big decision because the 1500/5000 double is almost impossible. If he did it, he'd have to run the 1500 heats on Saturday, then on Sunday it's the 5000 final at 3pm followed by the 1500 final at 5pm. He won't get pre-selected because too many men have the 5k standard and he's not a prior medallist like Kerr and Hodgkinson. I think he should go for the 5000. He'd dominate that field and he has a medal shot in Paris, at least as good as his 1500 medal chances. If he does the double at the trials, he could miss out on the Olympics altogether because I wouldn't back him to come through in that 1500 after running the 5k.
Surely he will get pre-selected? He just won silver at the Europeans and even gave Jakob an honest race (compare with how easily he won the 1500m). But then, we know the British selectors are dumb and always have been.
