If an athlete has the resources and finds fulfillment to continue competing, why stop? I say keep doing it if you’re having fun. One day it’ll all be over. Enjoy it while you can.
She is quitting track and doing triathlon for the next few years. So she will still be competing but in a different sport.
Her biggest issue is income. As long as Lululemon is willing to pay her to be a triathlete, then she can keep on going as a pro athlete.
No one expects her to make the Olympic team as a triathlete, so she has no pressure on her.
Decent income, exercise just a few hours per day, then post random things on Instagram. Not a bad gig if you can get it.
Her fiance is a big finance bro so income isn’t even an issue. They are loaded
Are you claiming that only 'top level' track athletes are the 'real track athletes?'
A 10:01 steeple is nowhere near her 9:10 steeple pb. But it is still very good. It is still a time that most women who have ever run a 3000 steeplechase would be thrilled to achieve. It is still a time that requires some serious training and effort to achieve.
Maybe she is not a very top-level top athlete right now, but she is still very good and most certainly a real track athlete.
There are many runners that are real track athletes. Being a real athlete is more about effort than results
Tall, blonde, athletic, comfortable in front of the camera...
Don't be surprised when you are watching a college or NFL game in the near future and the booth announcers throw it to Colleen Quigley on the sidelines to get an injury update or to ask a coach what adjustments to expect in the second half.
People are allowed to mix things up and do different things. It’s near impossible for people to compete at a top level and remain consistent and injury free. Let her run her races and live her life. Also, seriously? Real track athlete? Grow up and get a grip. She’s a better athlete than the majority of us will ever be.
Talked about hitting OT standard before race and the idea that in a few weeks could have a (small) chance at making Paris team but runs 10:01. Is it time for her to stop misleading herself and fans that she really is a top level track athlete and just focus on being an influencer and model?
not sure where you've been, but she was done since leaving bowerman.
Can't wait for her attempt to make the LA 2028 triathlon team. Now that Gwen's comeback is done, the triathletes will need a new source of drama for the next Olympic cycle.
It’s literally only because of her looks…. Otherwise she’d be irrelevant like Anthony Famiglietti who tried to be an influencer, treadmill world record holder, and YouTube prank sensation of old guy at the track.
Newsflash genius; MOST of life is literally about how people look, this is nothing new.

You have to be joking? Most people find her annoying, she would not be great as an announcer what so ever.

Also gummy smiles do not look great on camera
Right, bc Leigh Diffey is such a hottie. * eye roll *
She ran as what I'd consider a elite track athlete from 2015-2020, a good 6 years. Still put up some decent times 2013/14 and 2021-2023. A quick google search puts the average sports career for MLS: 3.2 Years 🏈 NFL: 3.3 Years 🏀 NBA: 4.8 Years 🏒 NHL: 5 Years ⚾️ MLB: 5.6 Years 🎾 Tennis: 8.5 years.

Why is it a newsflash if it's nothing new? Stop talking just to talk.

This is true insofar as making a living as an influencer goes (or an actor, or a rich person’s side lover, or any of the relatively few but visible roles that are absolutely dependent on looks), but not so much the rest of life. For instance, I don’t tend to consider looks when choosing an accountant or a plumber, provided they don’t look especially scary or weird.
