In the meantime, she is a happy, successful person. And you are a living corpse, wasting his days on Letsrun, slandering young women and arguing with strangers. Valby wins. You, as always, you lose.
Not when you expend every breath you have disputing what I point out. So threatened.
Every breath I have? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
At most I spend an hour a day here. Maybe two during major competitions. You are wasting your last days here. I like that.
What it's like arguing with a bunch of Parker Valby blowhards on LetsRun.
Why don’t you go back to your little diary and write your complaint there instead as you listen to Taylor Swift. Sound like a bitter little girl with a major chip on your shoulder
I think the title and asterisk claim is a little provocative considering that she wore the spiked Vaporflys for 2/5 races and everyone here seems to agree she would've won anyways/it's not against the rules.
That said, I do think the OP has a point that it's worth talking about whether the prototype situation is fair. I don't blame Valby for wearing them and I certainly don't think it diminishes anything from her accomplishment, but I also find it a little unsavory as a fan/runner.
The point is that Nike is using her platform as an opportunity to debut a new prototype that is unavailable to the other athletes on a day when the rules are meant to create as level a playing field as possible. In this case, the playing field is not level at the highest level of collegiate track and field.
What is your proof of this and do you also have proof that other legal custom prototypes were not on the feet of any of her competitors in any of the races? Not hating, just asking questions that might support or refute your position.
Nike has made Frankspikes for all time. Back in the day Bill even made shoes for my buddy, he won our state XC but did not wear the sleek shoes Bill made him (too muddy)
This has been going on since the 80's
Centro wore Frankespikes his freshman year college at Nc's when he had a calf injury
Happens more then you think and with Valby have to run the 10 and the 5 just before the trials I totally get it and you should as well
That's what I'm saying. It's a compounding effect. The top athlete gets exclusive access to the latest tech (not because of money or connections as some people have said in this thread), but because the shoe company sees the athlete as the perfect marketing influencer for their next big launch (e.g. the 1:59 challenge). This creates a situation where the rest of the competition is at a disadvantage. If the shoe is released in time for next season, then everyone has access to them and everything is level again, until they come up with a new and improved model and only invite Parker Valby to wear them at the final championship, then we're right back here again.
Imagine if Nike designed a custom bat with a bigger sweet spot, lighter weight with more energy transfer. The ball jumps off the bat way quicker and carries an extra 20 or 30 feet. What would normally be a routine flyout now ends up in the 3rd row of the outfield bleachers. Even a slight mis-hit still results in a home run, etc.
But only one player gets the bat and crushes the postseason home run record. Meanwhile other guys are hitting flyouts to the warning track with the old bats.
Obviously it's an imperfect analogy, but that would be ridiculous, wouldn't it? That's what's happening here, just on a smaller, more intangible scale.

There are several people out there that are making vaperflys with spikes. You can find people that will do this for you. Probably a youtube video out there on how to do it or something at this point. Everyone can do it if they want to. Stop crying about how it's impossible for anyone else to get them.
