The first official "Jakob has peaked/ is done" thread this year.
I think the openers wish (sorry: meant prediction) will go the same way as the many similar threads during the years.
Thoughtsleader who is not a fanboy but one of the rare unbiased poster has already pointed out that Jakob possibly ran on tired legs.
I didn´t dare to state the obvious afraid of being attacked by the biased British patriots for always making excuses.
But I dare to predict that Jakob - if he doesn´t get any traning setbacks - will break 3:27 in DL Monaco.
Heh yeah. I don't take much negative at all from this race. He ran a good race, and showed a lot of grit to win it. He will have to be better to win in Paris, there is no question. But people projecting 5 days after Pre and 9 hours of travel or whatever it is that he was going to crush a quality, more rested athlete like Tim are underestimating how hard it is. I still rank Kerr higher and favor him, but that might have most to do with Jakob's stubbornness to win the hard way (from the front) than being patient/flexible like Kerr will be. It's clear Jakob is already in pretty good shape.
An other myth I want to fall is that Nuguse brojos sauce.
Bowerman mile encounter was a spon, sored disrespect to the tradition of this distance.
Seeking to draw an image that is the bottom false.
Feel free to defend your American, I know you are playing the double face.
I have to disagree. He just ran 3:45 for full mile as an opener, finishing 2nd to kerr who is in the best shape of his life. Jakob didnt even break 3:30 for his opener last year and this year he probably split 3:29/30 during his 3:45 mile last weekend. You are cooked if I think jakob aint running 3:26 or faster within the next few weeks
My kid lives in Eugene (was at the Pre actually) and we went to Oslo from there last summer. I don’t know if Ingebrigtsen has a private jet? But it takes a hell of a lot longer than 9 hours. Took us over 15. Drive plus flight from Portland is 14+. The tired legs then travel would be an absolute nightmare.
And there isn’t a direct to Oslo from Portland. If he didn’t private jet it then I agree 14 hours is the fastest and that would be with a super short layover in AMS.
This is the guy that some say will front run a 3:27 to win the Olympics? 😂 He's looking VERY vulnerable.
Of course he looks vulnerable. He even confirms that he is vulnerable in interviews. According to some interviews he was performing better than expected at Eugene and Oslo after coming back from injury.
In the same interviews he expects to be better for each race.

If everyone else gets frozen in time until Paris while Jakob continues to improve then sure he should be well positioned then.
There you have it folks, the guy is not the same as last year. Opened up with a 3:27.95 last year and now struggles to go under 3:30. All downhill from here with this new baby coming up and his lack of motivation to train. A bunch of africans ran under 12:40 as well so no gold for him either in the 5k with this fitness. New Olympic Champions in Paris this year: Josh Kerr and Yomif Kejelecha!
I will come back to this thread when he can only run 3:29 low in monaco, losing to Josh Kerr who runs 3:27 for the win. He never peaks he only just runs the same fast times as he did earlier in the season. You all will see.
Unless Jakob is flying private people are really underestimating the travel time. You think there are direct flights from Portland Oregon to Oslo? Between getting to Portland, going through security, layover (probably Amsterdam), flight to Oslo, back to hotel we are probably looking closer at 24 hours travel time. Which is absolutely exhausting, jet lag aside
