I think the transgender issue is really highlighting the lack of depth in girl's athletics. 5 feet and 5:25 wins a state title? Everyone should have that capacity to jump their height. And 5:25 for a mile would qualify you for the Florida State meet in the worst division in dead F last.
The girls in the transgender student's division need to get better.
This athlete is in Division III. DI leaders are at 5-4 and 4:56. (The 10th runner in 1600 is 5:13.)

What's your point? Is it that there is no depth?
My point is the "state leaders" in NH are way better than 5 ft and 5:25. I don't know where 5:25 would rank in the state (I only have free account with athletic.net), but that's still way below the 10th place. (5ft HJ ranks in the top ten.) And remember NH is a pretty small state. Florida has about 16 times more people.
It's interesting that you linked to the recent NPR coverage of Parker Tirrell, a 15-year-old male in New Hampshire who started playing soccer in the girls' league a couple of years ago after he found he didn't like playing soccer with/against other boys due to the stiff competition and the fact that some boys were "aggressive and cold and rude" to him.
The profile of Parker that NPR published recently appears to have been meant to portray the Granite State teenager in a flattering light. But in the eyes of a lot of readers, the story didn't land as intended. Some excerpts, with pronouns edited for accuracy and some editorial comments added:
Parker Tirrell began playing soccer when he was four. He’s never wanted to stop.
Today, the 15-year-old’s life revolves around the sport [which he now plays in the girls’ division]
Growing up, Parker played on boys’ teams. But he often felt isolated, like he didn’t fit in. “Those boys always pushed me around more and were more aggressive and cold and rude towards me,” he said.
After Parker realized he was trans in middle school, he began transitioning and joined the girls’ team in 8th grade.
Playing girls soccer
has given Parker more confidence – and made soccer more fun
At least that’s the case for Parker. NPR didn’t ask any of the girls Parker competes against. The only person other than Parker that NPR appears to have interviewed for the story is another bloke,
Fraser Kirkpatrick, Parker’s high school coach, [who] has known Baker for years through other youth soccer leagues.
Kirkpatrick knows how important soccer is to Parker, and so [he said] do the rest of Parker’s teammates.“We all want Parker on the team,” he said.
It’s been frustrating, Parker said, to hear politicians without any insight into his experiences — and the years of work he’s put in on the field — suggest that he’s at an unfair advantage [playing in the girls' division]
“It's not a gender advantage. It's a commitment thing,” he said. “I have been playing for years.”
Whereas you see Parker Tirrell as an admirable "trans girl" who rightly belongs in the female cateory of sport, I see Tirrell as an entitled teenage boy who's been granted a new kind of "male privilege." This new form of male privilege gives boys and men who say they have a special gender identity free rein to intrude upon, lord it over, trounce and dominate female athletes - and female people generally.

Nailed it.
As if all of the XX humans haven't been playing for years, and are almost surely every bit as dedicated and hard working.
"It's not a gender advantage."
What an idiot.
I couldn't agree with your conclusion more. It is the ultimate male privilege to be able to declare yourself female, to play girls' and women's sports, and to dominate, and then to be hailed as a brave hero (or to present yourself as one).
At this point we should be able to cut and paste all the other threads on this, and put them under the heading "There's Nothing to See Here. It NEVER Happens (and They Never Win Anything Anyway)"
I can't wait for common sense to prevail.
Please does not spread hate, bigotry, transphobia and misinformation. Please does not. We is not need misinformation and transphobia on LRC. LRC is an inclusive community welcoming of a variety of lifestyles and viewpoints.

Don't forget "same pathetic poster makes the same pathetic thread"
Those boys always pushed me around more and were more aggressive and cold and rude towards me,” he said.
After Parker realized he was trans in middle school,
There will come a time, probably no sooner than 20 years from now, where we wake up from this silliness and recognize that trans kids are just awkward / late bloomer kids that we've pathologized into making permanent or semi-permanent decisions about gender "affirming" care just because we are sick as a society. It's all right freaking there in print: he couldn't hack it in the standard male way of interacting so he decided he try it the other way. Back in the day boys like that just grew up, by hook or by crook, and learned to be themselves no matter what that looked like.

Indeed, clicking the NPR link I do see Parker is rather small for a boy. That was me once, and probably a lot of the runners on this forum. I get it, it kinda sucked. But we grew up. Parker is choosing not to.
So we should weight the opinions of the opponents into consideration of how to create policy around trans participation in XX sports?
Great! Let's let the girls and women vote on it.
It'll be "bye bye, XYs" so fast your head will spin.
If you let them vote, the result would disappoint you. Those young girls and women are the least likely people to agree with you. Your most reliable ally are old conservative men, like the ones you have in the state legislatures.
Curse you, this never happens! You’re a bigot for even mentioning it!
So say most liberals. And make no mistake, liberals are the problem here. Even ones that claim, “I’m not in favor of this.” Maybe not, but they lack the courage to tell people, “No you can’t compete as something you clearly aren’t.” Liberals instead say things like, “Sex and gender are totally different. Sex matters in sport, but not anywhere else.” No one is buying that convoluted explanation.
And this keeps happening, and will continue to.
No buffon, sex doesn’t matter in sport but matters in the bedroom for procreation and recreation and medicine and such, so it does actually matter elsewhere.
Have you ever seen two athletes going at it on track? Or on field? How about using their sex organs somehow to defeat the opposition? To throw the discus maybe? To display to the audience? Or do we maybe give them points for gamete size? Sex is not what matters in sport. You are confusing it with performance.

There were 37 people on Penn's women's swim team in 2022. About 6-8 supported letting Thomas compete, half opposed, and the remainder didn't get into it.
It's a clear plurality / majority at one of the most liberal colleges in America. Yes, it isn't Evergreen State, Portland State, or Oberlin, but it's close enough.
How do you think the rest of college students feel?
Approximately 20 hours ago, another threatening thread pertaining to disallowing men in women's sports was initiated. This is a serious and credible threat, and all LR woke shills I mean Leftists have gathered in the war room to address the situation. Their leader, the poster know as Just Another Hobby Jogger, is closely monitoring the situation. Rest assured, he/she (not sure which one, neither are they) will respond swiftly and forceful with completely irrelevant and unimportant case examples in the effort to let men continue to compete with women at all costs. This is not just a threat to the American way of life, but to humanity itself. Just Another Hobby Jogger will never stop defending the right of men to crush women and expose their genitals in the women's locker room. An update will be given this evening on this serious developing situation. God bless all trans everywhere and God bless America.
