Why in the freaking world have they split the meet up in 2 days? I get it if they do D, C and B heats on Friday (like last year) and all the main events Saturday. But putting THE main event Friday (mens 5000m) and the rest Saturday (where the meet is only 2 hours long...) is absolutely crazy.
LMAO! Imagine thinking the 5000 is the main event of a meet that has Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. 😂
LMAO! Imagine thinking that Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is guaranteed to run just because she entered a meet.
Originally scheduled for 12:30amET tonight, the seeded section of the Men's 5000 will now go off at 11:30pmET. The Women's 5000 is still scheduled for 11:50pmET.

you have one woman, that rarely shows up, and now you want the whole meet to be about her? wonder why track and field have a hard time…
yeah my dude, multiple world record holders in a 5000m is the main event over a one time world record holder, not evening running her main event
Nothing past 400m matters. These meets would be much better if they just ran the 100, 200, 400, and hurdles and called it a day. I'd rather be set on fire than watch even an 800, too much running in circles.

wow man, you are just so cool, going on a distance running website and saying only sprints matter. damn bro
It’s crazy this meet is free. the only 5K better than this all year will be the Olympic final
The 5K isn't popular with TV viewers or most Track & Field fans.
Most track fans are former runners. And do you what percentage of those former runners ever ran even one 5k on the track in their entire life? Less than one percent. It's not an event that most track fans can relate to.
Lots of empty seats. I wonder how many more years this meet lasts.
Saturday. Looks like an audience of hundreds. What crappy promotion for T&F. Can't they at least put up fan cutouts in the seats like they did for MLB during Covid? They might even make some money off of fan sponsorship.
The majority of the world doesn't care for or know who runs the 5000. Millions of people know who Sydney is. She brings in more money and fans. Either you're completely stupid or just trolling.
I went to the LA Grand Prix last year and there were many more people there. A lot of it had to do with Lex Young breaking the 5K high school record. A couple hundred Newbury Park people showed up to watch and support.
