I don't understand how these GoFundMe campaigns work. She set a goal of $5,000 in order to afford her trip to run the "Olympic marathon." Thus far, she has $1,310 donated. What if she doesn't reach her goal and can't afford the trip? Does she still get to keep the $1,310 and use it to help pay her charity entry to London next year or does the money get returned to the donators?
Given the way it is written, I feel like writing an email to GoFundMe and let them know she is raising money under false pretenses. Look at some of the statements. These are blatant lies. GoFundMe was originally set up to help people with medical expenses and other such situations. She is just stealing money.
"This fundraiser is to help our friend and coworker, Ashley, run in the Paris Olympics. And yes, you’ve read that right."
"Recently, Ashley has worked on completing a series of running goals as part of a challenge in order to potentially earn a spot to compete in the marathon in the 2024 summer Olympic games. After accomplishing these series of goals, we were beyond thrilled to find out that Ashley was offered a spot to run in the marathon."
"The exciting news regarding Ashley’s amazing opportunity to race in the summer games has began to spread and supporters have inquired about how to help our girl get across the finish line in Paris"
