He has Olympic gold and two WC silvers; nobody has won more global golds and nobody has won more global medals than him who is actively running. Until that changes, he is the big dog.
Jakob is clearly the better runner and is going to have the better career when it’s all said and done.
But winning in any sport matters and Jakob has struggled to win in the 1500 on the biggest stage so far

Bekele, Cheptegei, Kipchoge. But you probably meant just for the 1500m
Oops, my bad, I wasn’t paying close enough attention. But even if we’re limiting it to the 1500, the claim is wrong. Centro has more global golds in that event and just as many medals.
This is the dumbest take in the history of LR. He is the fing defending Olympic champion in the 1500 dude. How much crack did you smoke before commenting?

He said actively running and competing in those events. Those guys are old and basically retired.
Only on Letsrun is the runner who loses the better runner. I'm sure Kerr is quite happy for Ingebrigtsen to be the "better runner" so long as he wins the titles.

Kenenisa Bekele would like a word.
Please try actually reading. He said active competitors. Bekele is old as hell and retired at this point.
You're missing the part where Kerr just ran an 8 minute 2 mile, a time that was seen as completely untouchable until Jakob ran 7:54. And YES, Jakob has ran 7:54 outside. Kerr didn't have any pacing lights too.
But Jakob has been injured for a large portion of the year, and Kerr has had a big jump in ability the past 12 months. So we can say with confidence that Kerr can obviously run a much faster mile and 5k than he has ran in the past. Will a fully fit Jakob beat this version of Kerr over 1500? Possibly, I wouldn't say probably. Jakob doesn't have the kick that Kerr has, Kerr also has the fitness to be there until the end too.
So it's much closer than you make out. It doesn't matter how many times Jakob beat Josh in 2020 or 2021. We are in 2024
That's like an 8:10 in 2005-era spikes.
You should've been at Millrose this past winter. Seeing a WR is cool but the way he did it was showstopping, I remember seeing Pete Julian congratulate him in the mixed zone from a distance and it solidified my momentary loss for words...probably worth 7:56-8 on an outdoor track.

You are just ridicuous.
Track and Field News has Ingebrigtsen as 1500m no. 1 for 2023. Not too difficult to see why: 4 fastest 1500m times, no. 4 all-time, no. 3 all-time in the Mile, silver at the Worlds.
Josh Kerr being around 2+ seconds slower than Ingebrigtsen. Worlds are important, but not everything.
Last year, Ingebrigtsen clearly was the better runner than Kerr. For this year we have to wait and see. Kerr is in great form and Ingebrigtsen yet has to race. Very interesting season to come.
I know you are not interested in this at - the astonishing thing really is, why are you spending hours every day commenting on something you have no interest for?

Not only that.
No male runner has ever had more medals in the MD and long distance on the track at the age of 22.
Come with Gebrselassie, K. Bekele, El-G, Morceli; none of them were close. At the age of 22 Kerr had 1 bronze.
Jakob's record speaks for itself. As does Kerr's. But Jakobs resume' currently is more impressive. No need to be insulted though. Whether Jakob is the better man in Paris is obviously unknown. But I believe the mark of Jakob's greatness will lie in that result. I have a feeling though that neither will win. But it is merely a feeling and I could easily and justifably be wrong.
One is a time trial specialist, and faster, and the other is a racer, and has championships medals.
im not sure why we keep on with this debate, is it best the faster is white and the latter is British?
oh really? why did Kerr lose every other race to Jakob including the olympic final and the prior WC? Kerr won ONE race and now he’s a ” racer “?? just stop, you sound moronic.

Jakob has more titles.
But can't win a WC title in his best event, while Kerr can - as he beats him.
