As a former athlete i did not think so. Not trying to be crude but I'd imagine on the sexual orientation of the athlete. Straight probably not for a gay athlete who engages in a particular style possibly. I'd actually be curious to know if that requires recovery or is it just normal sex to them that is actually not painful. Keep in mind I'm a masters student in psychology that is straight but would be curious to know the actual side effect if any especially for athletes.
I heard don’t beat it for 3 days so your testosterone peaks race day
Practicing semen retention will give you extra clarity and focus to maximize your training. Abstinence is the best bet.
Then after your celebacy carries you to victory and you're being showered with glory, use this moment to secure relations with the alpha queen who is saving herself for a champion.
Never use P or M. These things make men and women futile servants of delusion. Be great in reality.

God is great!
This must be why in middle school I grew breasts and could never focus
For the male (or penetrative partner) the end of sex is usually a kyphotic posture (hunched over, pounding in), feeling drained and tending to fall asleep, one and done. For the woman (or receptive partner), there is opposite pressure (being pounded out to release), into an extended or hyper extended posture (lordosis), and can continue to multiple orgasms, and final state refreshed more than drained. The mental side is parallel.
Obviously excessive efforts or something not used to will result in more recovery.
Unusual diet and medicine for sexual and reproductive ends are relevant to performance but less big a deal than general menstrual cycle effects on training.
My coach in high school would respond to this question with "staying up until 3AM trying to get sex will hurt your performance." I think that's probably accurate.
Paraphrasing Casey Stengel:
"The trouble is not that players have sex the night before a game. It's that they stay out all night looking for it".
