I hate hearing about this kid. He was a great high school runner who has struggled in college, like many great high school runners do. Nothing unique about him. I wish we could focus on better runners actually impacting the sport.
I agree with you--I find him insufferable. I'm trying my best to stay neutral and point out that, on its own, his running and trajectory are utterly unremarkable.
Obviously I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed his attitude. It was very entertaining to me. I really hope he is able to get fast again, I think the sport needs people like him.
Why if someone says something positive about a runner is there always a comment that it must be the runner or coach making the post?
Because Flatt loves posting about himself. He is not the only one who uses LRC for that. There are a lot of well-known runners posting here. Few boost themselves like this guy. The other option is some guy who is a rabid fanboy who loves him, and searches for news about him every few days … unlikely.

Most people don't like narcissists who endlessly talk about themselves.
Not using PEDs would slow him down by that much? For 400/800m, it’s not going to be that big a difference.
Exactly! PED's have very little effect on performances at that distance. Just look at Jarmila Kratochvílová. Didn't fail any drug tests and in her early 30's set the world on fire in the 400 and 800 and everyone knows she is clean! (sarcasm intended)
It's so unhinged and creepy how much Flatt is hated on this forum. He's been injured and most likely wasn't training optimally at Ole Miss, a distance program, to begin with. That makes more sense than the theories that he was doping in high school or that his ego has made him slower.

When have you talked to Cade Flatt?? How would you know what he talks about besides from watching his interviews where he's supposed to talk about himself?
49.01 is so not back baby for a P5 400/800 guy, there are more than a handful of college 1500/5000m people with better wheels than that.
If you’re a low mileage 400/800 guy you are unlikely to run much faster than 1:51-1:52 off of that.
Idk what Ole Miss is doing to this guy, or if he’s doing it to himself or what, but this is like not even conference competitive let alone nationally or internationally at this point.

I think it’s a bit much but it’s not unhinged. If you are gonna talk a lot of crap on other athletes, exaggerate how little you are training and claim you’ll be the best 800m to ever live you are destined to get what comes back around when you fail.
You shouldn’t step into the spotlight if you aren’t ready for the possibility of boos and tomato’s, as harsh as that sounds.
