Three Americans ran the Olympic standard at The Ten, and one ran 27:09. Where do you suggest they would have achieved these marks if The Ten had served as the Olympic Trials? There is no way they could allow pacers and wavelights in the Olympic Trials. Also, about 28 other fast foreign runners would not have been in the field. Use your head.
Last year we had 14th All Time Female Performance & Top 10 American AT for Men.
This time around there is more incentive + more people will come to this as it's really a last chance shot for a number of people to race in a 10000 of any decent standard (Klecker etc).
While any other year you'd be right, I think because of where it's positioned pre-OLY, this year may be different

Any update on Keira D'Amato? She's not in the start list anymore but her Strava shows that she's in London. Injured?
It’s bizarre as she’s been posting some runs around London so can’t be injured but surprised not to see her on the start list. She ran 11 miles yesterday. Not my kind of taper but then she is an elite…
Confirmed is Eilish McColgan, Jess Warner-Judd, Miriam Dattke, Francine Niyomukunzi
It will be also the GB selection for Paris games (trial like)
What happened with McColgan and Warner-Judd?
Are they running the Prefontaine? Kind of makes the GB team selection interesting when they are split up in different races. Keith may try to smash it, then, no?
Jess Judd is still on the start list, I think ideally she needs to get the Olympic standard. She currently has the UKA "B" standard and is in the rankings (just) but may be overtaken in the global rankings by other athletes with the A standard before selection.
McColgan is not running and i think was originally entered more in hope than expectation, as she is still coming back from injury, she already has the A standard though, so hopefully she can show enough form before selection to be a discretionary pick.

pacing perhaps?
Yes I was wondering that too. She’s just posted a 7 mile run on Strava this morning so I’m guessing she’s not running or injured so pacing could be a good call.
Shame though as I wanted to see her run. And she has said she wants to go for the 10k at Paris? So needs the standard. Long way to travel for pacing duties!
