Same parents, DNA brothers, and yet one brother dominates. How is this possible? Most brothers I know have very similar athletic skills. I guess training? But I think they even train together.
There are some differences in physique(Josephus is taller) and like others have mentioned, some injury issues(got injured running the 200 his senior year, injured in 2023). I actually thought in HS that Josephus might've been on the same trajectory of Noah given that he is technically a year younger so he was hitting some of the times that Noah hit the year before and he beat him a few times in the 55m indoors despite training to be a 400 guy.
I really think Josephus should go back to the 400. Taller guys tend to do much better in 200/400. He ran 45.0 in 2018 but he hasn't run one in the last 3 seasons. I'd guess the season he ran 19.9 he could've gone 44-low and probably made the USA team.

100% agree. i went to school maybe 20 minutes from tc williams, by the time i graduated they were alexandria city high school..my coach at the time had been in the district for 10+ years? he got to watch them every year of hs, any meet where our 2 schools aligned (which happens a lot in the same district). he recalls the talent shared between the two and the brotherly competitiveness. he also recalls the day everything changed. i believe it was a 200m final, can’t remember if it was the district championships or just getting very close to that. both lyles brothers in the same heat, yk it’s about to be hype. both come scorching out of the blocks, it’s not close between them and the other competition at this point. about 70m in, during the curve, josephus pulls up and you can tell it is NOT good, he’s on the ground almost immediately. noah lyles goes on to win that race..however, instead of celebrating, he continues to run around the track until he reaches his brother..and at that point noah helps him cross the finish line. long story short, this guy is very accurate on the injury perspective..j thought i’d share a lil story
