Going from his XC nationals finish to his 7:37 right after, the logical conclusion is that he was in great shape in XC, it just translates better to the track for him. He would not be the first top track runner to struggle in XC comparatively, Haile Gebrselassie comes to mind.
It's his running biomechanics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nico Young won't go far in his career, mark my words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know it seems he is good and all but it's only for the present and immediate future, with his weird-ass shoulder spinning rickety running technique he will be wiped out with some injury quite soon!!!!!!!!
It shows that he can't run on grass/sand and hills on XC courses due to unstable energy-sapping biomechanics and Graham Blanks has better biomechanics, more stable but is also injury proned due to Boston's 5G RF in the environment. Waiting for Graham to go pro and move to Boulder he should be better by then.
Haile Geb was actually world class at XC you know that???
His was purely mental, if he wanted it hard enough, at his level, he can win it at least once!!! I don't buy that a GOAT level like Haile could never win XC.
It's the same for Hicham EL G also GOAT level. He could also win the 4km short-course title if he wanted to and maybe even also the 12km long course one.
Like a week after NCAA XC he won the 3k at BU in 7:37 with a big kick, then doubled back to win the b heat (by a ton) in 13:22 with another big kick. I don't know why he struggled at XC, but he was clearly in great shape and would've been in the mix to win the 5k Blanks won in 13:03.

Only a win counts. He needs to win that's all. Just like in soccer, just win that's all. No excuses. Nico couldn't win XC so..................while King Ches won in his freshman so you see the difference????
King Ches is already worn out and long past his heyday, what do you think will happen to Nico Young??? Obviously he is gonna follow in King Ches' footsteps duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And King Ches had much better running biomechanics than Nico Young except for kicking/sprinting!!!!
