I think we'll see Monson, McDonald and Klecker at Highgate after this.
I was thinking about this earlier - Klecker doesn't have any other option to get to the OLY 10,000 right? He's not running the standard at US trials, so it's Highgate, try the 5000 (which wont end well), or try it somewhere on the road

He'll be okay in the standings with 2 x 27 lows but he seems like a no risks taken kinda fella.

I'm sure there'll be some other options. They could try a 10k road race. Highgate is a great event, but as ever with the UK, the weather is an issue. This is a country where a 10 mph wind is considered "still conditions." On the positive side, there's definitely wavelight for the event and it will be the best track racing experience they'll ever have if they do turn up. It will probably be sponsored by On as well
Then why did she even start the race. Don’t believe it for a second. Lots of naive people here.
And if Monson had travelled all the way to Southern California, showed up at the meet, warmed up, and then didn't feel good enough to race, one of you dummies would post something like "She went all the way to the meet and then she didn't even give it a shot?"
Some of you just like to think negative and complain about everything.
Sometimes people get sick and they can't perform as well as they would like. That's all there is to it.

Common sense says if you have a stomach bug that is giving you bathroom issues you don’t enter a major 10K race. It’s not the 800m.

Maybe read a little closer next time. From her IG post:
went out okay, then my stomach started feeling worse until I had to pull off and spend the rest of the night in the bathroom

Right. But it was already in the works BEFORE she stepped on the line. Unless there was a major miracle and it happened exactly while she was racing. So, sorry- but thats not how a bug works.
I ran a half on Saturday. Traveling on Thursday I must have eaten something because all that came out on Friday was water and even had to stop at a bathroom 2K into my 30 minute shake out run. Had the race been that day I would have been in a mess, but almost guarantee that I would have lined up and run--unless of course if I was feeling nauseous.

That would have been dumb based on your scenario. Them again no one cares what mundane runners do. Unless you were broadcasting that you’re breaking the AR. LoL

ah ok so your argument is, don't even try if you're not 100 percent? hope you're not a coach

Road to Paris hasn't updated rankings scores yet, but looking at his scores, it would be touch and go if he got a rankings place. If it was today, and he finished top 3 at the trials, he would take the last spot by replacing whichever American dropped out. But if a few more people get the standard before July, he could be in a tight spot. There's still a few 10k track and road races to come

I can tell that you aren't a top athlete. Top athletes go for it even when they aren't 100%.
Michael Jordan had the flu in the NBA Finals, but he still scored 38 points. Tiger Woods had a bad leg, but he still won the US Open. Kirk Gibson had a leg so bad he couldn't even start the game, but he pinch hit a home run in the World Series.
Top athletes don't let excuses hold them back from at least giving it their best shot. On the other hand, losers go on message boards and complain about top athletes not being 100% healthy. Stop being a loser.
