"It’s a bittersweet moment. I’m American, and I truly believe that we are the best in the world, especially when it comes to sports. We have definitely been proving that dominance. … And it feels good to add on to that collection that the U.S. is the best," Lyles said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital. "But at the same time, it’s with a heavy heart, because being Black in America, there’s a lot to deal with. I’m not going to go into everything, but it’s not easy. It’s hard to love the country that sometimes doesn’t love you back. "At the same time, you always want to put your best foot forward. So, it’s a little contradicting, it's with a heavy heart, but it still makes you feel extremely proud because you are an American."
We flipped our finger to the king of England Stole our country from the indians With God on our side and guns in our hands We took it for our own A nation dedicated to liberty Justice and equality Does it look that way to you? It doesn't look that way to me The sickest joke I know
Listen up man, I'll tell you who I am Just another stupid American You don't wanna listen You don't wanna understand So finish up your drink and go home
I come from the land of Ben Franklin Twain and Poe and Walt Whitman Otis Redding, Ellington, The country that I love But it's a land of the slaves and the Ku Klux Klan Haymarket riot and the great depression Joe McCarthy, Vietnam The sickest joke I know
Listen up man, I'll tell you who I am Just another stupid American You don't wanna listen You don't wanna understand So finish up your drink and go home
I'm proud and ashamed Every fourth of July You got to know the truth Before you say that you got pride
Now the cops got tanks 'cause the kids got guns Shrinks pushin' pills on everyone Cancer from the ocean, cancer from the sun Straight to Hell we go

He's not wrong. But why is he talking to Fox Digital? Who handles his media? That is not much exposure. Say this on the Today Show during Olympic coverage. The young man is too cheesy to be taken seriously, however, he is entitled to speak his truth.
SMH...You are the one that said "the hatred towards blacks is justified by their behavior". You literally lumped 45 million African-Americans into one group, assuming we all have bad behavior. Then you called Lyles an idiot.
It is clear who the prejudiced idiot is in this discussion. We hate "you" based on your behavior towards blacks.
Full disclosure - I am not a "news guy" I don't support any of the ideological doctrine cr@p that makes up 99% of American news media - and that is on both sides.
But why exactly should Fox News be banned again? Oh because CNN is that much better? Yeah? Is it? So you're all about the freedom of free speech in this country but only when that speech is what you agree with?
Here is the only relevant question here - did Noah Lyles say this or didn't he? I'm pretty sure he did - and it's not for me to judge what was said or what his motivation was - but he still said it. I'm pretty sure they didn't sit around at Fox news with a picture of Noah on a boardroom wall and brainstormed ways to falsify a controversial statement from him.
If CNN reported this would you be calling for them to be banned? I just don't understand the controversy around a news outlet (correctly) quoting what an athlete said?
The thing with the United States, is that diversity is both one of our biggest assets, but also one of our biggest obstacles. It's always been that way. Hopefully, one day it will only be an asset and not an obstacle. But we aren't there yet.
Were it not for the Olympics, he would be unknown.
Probably would still be known. This isn’t the old days with 3 broadcast channels on tv anymore. Unless you are saying without running he wouldn’t be known. Which is like saying without music Taylor Swift wouldn’t be known.
The Olympics is where every sprinter that I can think of got most of their notoriety and became household names, and they could parley this into making money via endorsement deals.
A few that come to mind: Lewis, Johnson and Bolt.
Without the Olympics, you’re left with poorly attended running events that nobody watches on TV .
That’s sad, I respect Lyles opinion, but if his heart’s not in it, just don’t go.
