It was great to see her out there racing. She was way in front and ran 4:31 solo. Very strong performance for a 5,000 meter runner who hasn’t raced since early December and was so far ahead.
I'd like a pair of those rose colored sunglasses please
Dude. Give me a swig of that hatorade.
She was solo the whole time except for the runners she had to lap.
She went out in ~64.1 for the first 400, which may have gassed her a bit since she’s by no means an 800/mile type.
This was effectively a rust buster being her first race in 12 weeks.
Her team won the race by 11 seconds and set a meet record.
And finally, nobody’s gonna set the world on fire every time they race, especially in the 3-season NCAA system.
Tbh I see where OP is coming from. Parker clearly ran all out as always and an all-out 4:31 for a solo specialist like here isn't exactly an indicator of her being in top shape. Looked more like the injured Valby version we saw last year.
This is an instance where the thread should be deleted for being false. Watch her interview. She was very happy after her race and she is racing again today.
Valby has little experience running the mile. She went out a little too fast for her first race in three months and was running solo. Tonight in the slow heat of the 3k she will be running a time trial solo but will at least have the challenge of lapping other runners. As for Gators DMR, I assume Notre Dame can't enter two teams (A and B) so Florida's 13th best qualifying time should move up to 12th.
With over 40 athletes in a 3k heat, there is increased tripping hazard. Will they inform lapped athletes ahead of time to just stay in their lane, or let them drift outside at their discretion?
As said - she is a distance runner, even 3k might be too short for her. Running a 4.33 (equivalent) mile is fine, as it was solo on a relay. For all anyone knows she might have run much faster in a competitive race. In fact it is almost as fast as Gidey's PR (4.11 for 1500), yet no one assumes that she couldn't run faster than that if she ran it more, given her 14.05 5000m ability (which is 4.13 pace for1500m).
Perhaps she needs to run more mile races (or relay legs) if she truly wants to get closer to a top level for 5000m (I mean world-class, not NCAA class). Otherwise I see her focusing on the 10000m for the track and perhaps the Marathon IF she can handle to work for it.

What do you think are the chances of that if she can only run 2 days a week and put in about 30mpw that includes x-training?
How fast is a fast enough, Parker Valby? Is this an Olivia Markezich comparison? Except for Parker Valby's immediate family, I believe everyone else would bet on Olivia Markezich in head to head competition, 1500m/1mi. I hate indoor track for distance runners. It is awful distance runners have to subject themselves to this type of abuse for a silly indoor season.
