I think Frerichs will win trials. She is still at the end of her prime years and on social media seems extraordinarily confident about her health and building fitness. Last year was a wash but it wasn't a devastating injury that meant she'd never resemble prior form.
No doubt Markezich is a huge improving talent. The tipoff on her was when she regrouped and passed Tuohy last year in the distance relay. That type of ability will show again.
Then in early December astro got scared when Markezich ran a big time in Boston. He jumped into the thread unprovoked and for no reason other than to denounce Markezich based on track conditions. It was a sign of desperation and further evidence that Markezich is not merely an improving collegian.
The only caution is that she is already 23 and turns 24 at Paris time. At international level there are already elite steeplechasers several years younger.
