Yep. Under 25:00.

It seems to be about 16 from my observation. Discus
22:00 (~7 minute pace): "runner"

15:40 (5 minute pace): "good runner"
14:00 (~4:30 pace): "great runner"
This is my observation in many years on the site, assuming young, male, healthy. Unless you have a reason, you won't be taken seriously if you're slower than around 22. You'd probably be considered slow if you can't run under 19, but there's a big difference between being considered "slow" and "unserious".
Between 16 and 18 is considered "fine", but you certainly won't get any particular credit for it. Under around 16 does get you some respect around here, but there's also a twinge of negativity. You have probably trained hard and are faster than many/most people here, but still not particularly close to elites. And even the subelites are a lot better than you.
Very few on here are under 14, so you'll get automatic respect if you'd done that.
Of course, anyone who takes it seriously and cares about their running gets my respect!
I am 58, and have ran 19:45 recently. Was never fast. My PR is 19:10, when i was 35....A very slow hobby jogger for Letsrun standards...
at 51 years old I was able to run 18:45 with 170 lb; So I would say that a healthy man with 30 years old should be able to run sub 16:40
What if are old and washed up?

^^.
It's a fine line, if it even exists at all.

That's remarkably slow rate of deterioration over nearly 25 years. Congrats!
I ran 17:32 at 53, and 19:48 at 65, but it's a big drop off from what I ran in my late 30s (16:07 at 38).
You have to be fast enough to get accused of being on PEDs to avoid being laughed at for being slow on LR.
just been out there moving is a gift. Good job. If you really want an answer, if you are Slower than 13'30 you should try other sport

How poorly do you have to conjugate verbs at 58 in order to be mocked by the illiterates of LRC?
This post was removed.
There is really no line. You could win a gold medal, but if you don’t also hold the world record a number of posters will say you were just lucky. If you also have the world record, some here will say you’re still not the goat. If you have a world record but not a gold medal you are just good at time trialing.
When it comes to LRC negativity is infinite. The only exception is sub 3:07 marathon. That get universal respect here.
Sorry but there's absolutely no time you can run on here without being criticized by some of these people. Disappointing but it is what it is when everyone thinks they're a world record holder or a God at running
Sub 16. Anything slower is not even hobby jogger.
OP, before I judge someone's time. I have two requests.
1) Can I learn their approximate net worth?
2) Can I see a pic of their wife/girfrliend?
IF you think I"m going to mock a multimillionaire for being slower than me, you've got to be kidding. I'll kiss his *** and hope he takes me cool places.
Alternatively, if his GF is SUPER hot, I'll be friendly so I can friendzoner her and then scoop in when they break up.

I think most would agree
20 minutes is a respectable 5k for the average joe who takes fitness seriously
anything better is more respectable.
Heck anything under 25 min is respectable.
Over 25 min and you are either overweight or not athletic.
I ran 5km in 28 minutes today, but I was diagnosed with pulmonary embolisms in both lungs a week ago. Do I at least get street cred for still running while I’m half-dead?
Faster than me is fast. Slower than me is slow.
This is the universal standard for all runners.
My non running cousin asked if my low 19s 5k was olympic level when I said it was low 6 pace. That might be the funniest interaction I've ever had regarding running pace.
I assume this question applies for non-professionals. So I'd say 14:55 for dudes, 15:55 for women.
Good thing I was mile/1500... but I'd still get laughed at @ 4:01 for a dude.
