Last time Grant raced at Milrose he beat out Morgan and a runner collapsed on the track. I'll be happy with a clean race and Fisher moving off the rail to attempt to win. Early pacing will determine if WR is accomplished.
On second thought, despite being a simple "-ia" added to her name, it just doesn't sound right. Sounds kinda horrible, actually. Makes me think of that scene in Stand By Me.
excuse me, they did not show her finish...66/70/74/78. Speed is not her asset.
It has nothing to do with speed. It has to do with pacing. It's almost as if Leachman doesn't have a coach to teach her the correct pace.
Yes, I know that Leachman actually has several coaches, but they aren't teaching her about pace.
She came thru 200 at 32.73 and I am not sure how much faster she could have gone if that was the finish. She was working hard to go that fast, while Humphries just sat on her till 400 to go and looked like she was running easy.

You can't go through the 800 in 2:16 when your 800 PR is 2:13. That's like saying "I want to lose this race."
I'm not sure that Leachman would have beaten Humphries today no matter how Leachman ran that race. But Leachman would have at least gotten second if she had run smarter.
Running the first 800 in 2:20 or 2:21 would have given Leachman a shot at the win, and second place for sure.

In a way this was eerily similar to the NXN race in that she tried to run at a pace that there was no way she could sustain.....but she learned quickly and came back strong at FL. Amazing she can string together 16 straight 36s but 32.6/33.7 just killed her. I say it is lack of speed, but yes some coaching on what the proper pace for her was would have helped.
