Here’s what I don’t understand, isn’t the number 1 mantra of racing that you never do anything new on race day? Do you think she has done a long run in this exact kit with the same gel tuck plan or did she do something new, hence the unexpected chafing?
I never said it wasn't blood you simp, It's clearly blood, but not blood that soaked through 3 layers from the skin to the surface of the bib. You can clearly see the blood came from the outside onto the bib. Idiots like you never pay attention to detail and have zero reading or critical thinking skills. It is IMPOSSIBLE to have happened the way Gault reported.
David Monti told me O’Keeffe kept a gel in her sports bra that rubbed against her and caused irritation and some bleeding. So that’s the explanation.
How does one bleed so much to go through a sports bra, a singlet and a bib and have zero blood on their hands or anywhere else? I also have never in my life seen a bib that would bleed through like that, they usually have a coating on them to resist water. That amount of blood would also run down her stomach, not defy gravity and just soak through the bib. You are a better journalist than that Jon, a follow up or 2 would have been in order because that makes zero sense.
Lol letsrun never change. Questioning the important stuff here. I've had the same amount of blood from nipple chafe. It's not going on your hands because you're.... (bare with me here buddy) .... NOT BLEEDING ONTO YOUR HANDS
One more thing, chafing (and bleeding) is way worse when you're really wet. The athletes were obviously dousing themselves with water to keep cool the whole race, that would bring up the blood amount

Nowhere does it say "nipple chafe" the stated cause was very specific. So, let me get this straight, the gel just fell out and she never touched it? Yeah, that seems reasonable, you have a gel stuffed into your bra, chaffing to the point of blood loss and you never touch it until it falls out on it's own.
So, now let's see the pictures of you in your sports bra with that nipple chafe that soaked through it, your singlet and the bib, you sexy thing you!
Moron rails about questioning the important stuff while questioning... yeah, you finish it 🤡
Really not trying to be a creep, but was curious about this too. Regardless, she’s on the team. … in the name of curiosity though simply looking at photos she was tagged in is sufficient enough without being a bit weird and studying her on a rerun of the race lol.
Fast Women’s account had posted some pics and it does look like chafing/bleeding from under the bib and not something like sports drink or nosebleed as it slowly appears around 30k in.
Looks like my singlet at the end of my first marathon. I actually wear a sports bra/crop top in marathons now, solved the chafing issues. Surprised the elites don't have pockets in their bottoms or wear flip belts.

Why are the most arrogant people usually the most wrong?
Just to close the loop here, I reached out to O'Keeffe's agent, who confirmed what David Monti told me about the stain being the result of blood from chafing caused by a gel in her sports bra.
I find it to be a completely plausible explanation. I've had runs (never this bad) where I've chafed and bled but did not truly realize the extent of the chafing until I finished.

Dweebowitz...a little bit of blood mixed with some sweat for a couple of hours will look exactly as we saw. Had it been a male, I would have thought it was nipple bleeding. Same thing.
All I gotta say is OUCH!!!! I can’t imagine how much that had to burn and hurt late in the race- what I really don’t understand is why when she first sheeted to feel the chafing, why didn’t she at that time remove the gel so it didn’t keep rubbing and get to the point that it did??
Puma is probably loving it. Like "Could anything be greater than running away with the OT win over the deepest-ever US field on your very first marathon? Wait ... let's add lots of BLOOD all over the front of her bib and really put the badass meter over the top!!"

It was probably an emergency gel in case she dropped one or needed a boost. It was pretty warm out after all. Many women runners I know store one in their bra strap. It probably moved down, chafing her all the way. Stopped in a place where she may not have been comfortable to move it and kept going. Fiona won the trials, obliterated the fastest trials record, and people are wondering how blood and sweat can seep through the bib? I guarantee you she will heal in a few days.

In the post race interview with the two other girls O'keefe's bib stuck out from the other two. It was obviously blood and I was wondering how the hayl her nipples bled that much and how it got smeared to the center of her bib. Makes sense that it was a gel in the sports bra that caused it.
