I love the blame Nike for ON’s customers being upset they wasted their money
Is this some kind of a desperate cope speculating about things you couldn’t possibly know about? I’m very happy with the On shoes I own as I am with several other brands including Nike. I find my On shoes beautiful and get compliments on them all the time. They wouldn’t be as successful a business as they are without satisfied customers. You don’t have to buy into any of this for it to be true.
I’ve seen and sold most of the emerging shoe tech since the late 70s; and for those old enough, Asicstiger had several models from the early 80s that had similar “holes” in the midsoles, granted they weren’t large and they weren’t in helion foam - but, the premise was the same. My curiosity got the best of me last month and I tried on the cloudsurfer and cloudgo. For me, I don’t see the hype. The surfer was mushy for my 130 lbs., and the offset in the Go was too noticeable. Yeah, they look unique, and I kind of compare them to Reebok of the 80s when they were killing Nike - just before the Jordan came out - Reebok had a serious stable of elites and a couple of serious running models, but, they were primarily known for their aerobic models, like the freestyle, and all the ladies and men were quick to buy up those soft leather walk-around, everyday shoes. I mean the cloud tech in On is nothing in my opinion, but helion is indeed a great DuPont (?) foam known for durability. But, whatever works for you - “experiments of one,” and all that…..

+1 for the Surfer and the Go. Both are crap. You start feeling the plastic plate in the Go 10 miles into your run in a brand new pair. They're are ok to walk my dog.
The Surfer feels good at first but the forefoot cushioning is just mushy and dead. I run about 15-20 sec per k slower in the Surfer than in a old pair of Infinity React.
I haven't had a pair of on's yet but have heard mixed results from some friends. durability as the main concern. while I haven't tried their shoes, I've loved every peice of apparel I've purchased from them. very expensive but if you wait for some sale prices you can get some very high quality gear for reasonable prices.
They're fvcking shoes! The shoe fanboys are always a crack up.
On shoes are good enough for Alicia Monson, Yared Nuguse, Olivia Markezich, and others. Luis Grijalva ran some pretty fast times in Hokas.
Are you fanboys of other brands telling us that they would run faster if not inning in On & Hoka shoes?
Shoe snobs are stuck in 2019 when On became fashionable to wear. They have been making great running shoes worn by pros for awhile.
Go run a mile in a cloudsurfer and tell me yo dont like it better than any cushioned trainer.
Pro’s wear what they get paid to wear. No pro would ever wear a Hoka unless they are paid to do so. Meb used to wear Sketches for the $$$$$. ON is the same, from my understanding the OAC has been spotted many times in Nike or other brands when the cameras are not rolling. I honestly don’t blame them. ON running shoes are an injury waiting to happen
Cloudmonster is my go-to daily trainer. Amazing arch support and the cushioning is just right - not stiff, not a marshmallow.
I second this, I feel like ON got the cushioning balance perfectly. It’s not too soft but it’s also not as hard as a rock. The arch doesn’t stab your foot, and the lower 6mm drop is perfect for a forefoot/midfoot striker like me. I used to be almost exclusively a Nike guy, but I kept running into so many injury problems and I suspect it’s because of the pretty unstable ZoomX foam with a really rocketed carbon plate and the aggressive drop of 8-10mm. I haven’t had any injuries since switching to the Cloudmonster.
I coach a high school XC team and all my athletes that have gotten ONs the durability was the main concern.
The athletes with ON shoes started getting injuries and the day we switched them shoes, was the day their injuries went away.
A boy this fall started getting hip flexor pain (it got worse over a weeks time) and I gave him a used pair of Brooks Ghosts and within two-three days he felt a noticeable difference. Within a week, he had ZERO pain/discomfort and was back to 100% training. I have other stories similar.
When I see an athlete show up to practice with a pair of ONs, I immediately tell him that he isn't going to get a lot of mileage out of them and if they start feeling any injury/soreness/discomfort, they should get new shoes.
New line up of shoes….cloud monster, cloud eclipse is really good. This brand is so innovative, I would give them another go. 2024 line up is a huge improvement
I'm fine with my cloud monsters. Never had an injury in 10+ years of competitive running. It's almost like...people are different and can have different experiences.
Stop spreading fake news. Every single OAC athlete wears On shoes for every single session.
Only when the camera is one. This has been known for a while now. Even Dathan’s daughter doesn’t always wear ON. When your Dad is running the AOC and you chose other brands that tells up something
