Makes sense. Look at the amount of followers someone has and the amount of engagement. This is the first sign of buying followers. These three have a lot of fake followers after just checking. Good magnum P.I work
That's not really true anymore. If someone was on insta early then building a following was very easy. You could grow very quickly. As the platform gets older, building your audience is much much harder and relies on keeping up with all the latest developments (on insta itself and current trends) IE are you using their latest features? Are you buying paid ads from them.
They are ruthless at severely limiting who sees your current content if you have not kept up with them in that sense. And accordingly, there are plenty of large accounts which are now marginalized by insta.

Also, 1-5% for a large account is pretty normal. All of these people get really solid views on their reels which means the algorithm still likes them and this would not happen if they bought followers. My #1 way of seeing if an account is suspect is if their reels consistently perform horribly.
I follow several pro-runners on IG, but rarely like anything they post. In general I don't react to or comment on content from people I don't actually know.
Kind of related and you may know this: Instagram #'s offer to post your running pictures. You pay! It's like $40-50 for the first one!
Are people that desperate to be noticed?
What specifically do you mean? Post running pictures where? I thought anyone can post pictures to their Instagram account for free when they download the app.

There are a couple of accounts that pop up on my feed like this. They seem to buy followers as well - 500k+ followers but very few likes. They're typically called "running [x]", where [x] could be "motivation", "joy", etc. And they have a caption along the lines of "apply for feature below..."

Maybe because I’m a relatively new user, and don’t follow too many, it doesn’t seem too cumbersome. Whenever somebody I follow posts something, there is a highlighted circle around their account icon, and I can choose whether to click it or not.
Sidetrack: Anyone besides me think what Femke Bol just did with that weight looks very dangerous? That barbell coming down on the stacked boxes could get away accidentally and crush a foot! Don’t try that! There are safer ways to lift weights.

It's amazing the amount of anonymous slander that occurs on these boards. If everyone's identities were known, 99% of if would disappear. Don't want to get sued now do you? Easy to throw out all kinds of lies and accusations with zero evidence to back it up when folks don't know who you are.
Nikki Haley is this you? Screen name sure is close

There is a video of her dropping a weight after setting a clean record and it hits the edge of the lifting platform, causing it to fly back into her shin. I can't find it right now but she labeled it something like, "A new record (and a blue shin)!" or something like that.

Wow. Maybe I’ll try to find that. It’s not a good look, I don’t think it is s necessary; kids trying to emulate it or get ideas could get hurt.
Emma Bates has over 1200 comments and 16,000 something likes on her last post...that seems like pretty good follower engagement to me....
Agreed. Emma makes a lot of content on a really consistent basis. Most of it's pretty good (as far as content goes). Everyday stuff like whatever she's doing with her goats, but also posts a ton of training (well, injury) updates too. She's good at the social media game.
