I would love to see Tsegay, kipyegon and Hassan all three go for the triple. Let’s put all three across so many rounds and see who is best in each distance

Wow, that would be fun. I also like to watch Gidey, but she has to go hard from the gun as she does not have the finishing speed of the three you mentioned.
Kipyegon will already have the 5000 in her legs while the much younger vastly improving Welteji bides her time for a sole event and opportunity for massive upset at the end of the Olympics.
The road victory over Kipyegon will cause Welteji's confidence to soar even more than it did at world championships, when she dispatched silver from Hassan.
Welteji remains so underrated you guys are talking about Tsegay, who has all but dropped the 1500. She ran it exactly one time outdoors in 2023.
Agree 100%. Welteji is Kipyegon's biggest threat in the 1500. And let's not forget Chebet in the 5000, who is certainly a threat to medal if she is fresh.
If Hassan goes for the 5000-10,000-marathon triple, the schedule is quite doable as she’ll have at least one day off between every event as shown below.
Hassan’s Olympic lineup is she does the 5000-10,000-marathon Friday, August 2 – 6:10 pm – 5000 1st round Monday, August 5 – 9:10 pm – 5000 final Friday, August 9 – 8:55 pm – 10,000 final. Sunday, August 11 – 8:00 am – Marathon
Emil Zatopek is the only human to ever win gold in 5,000, 10,000 and marathon in Olympic history and he won gold in all three at the same Olympics – 1952 Helsinki.
But might Hassan try to do all four events in Paris. That makes things much harder. The good news is the quadruple wouldn’t require Hassan to run two events on the same day like she did in 2021 when she had to run the first round of the 1500 roughly 12 hours before the 5000 final, but she would have to run the marathon less than 12 hours after the 1500 final.
Hassan’s Olympic lineup is she does the 1500-5000-10,000-marathon Friday, August 2 – 6:10 pm -5000 1st round Monday, August 5 – 9:10 pm – 5000 final Tuesday, August 6 – 10:05 am -1500 1st round Thursday, August 8, 7:35 pm – 1500 semis Friday, August 9, 8:55 pm ET – 10,000 Final. Saturday, August 10 – 8:25 pm – 1500 final. Sunday, August 11 – 8:00 am – Marathon
Only one human has ever won four individual medals in running events at an Olympics. At the 1924 Paris Games, Finland’s Ville Ritola won gold in the 10,000 and steeplechase and silver in cross country and 5000.
What’s truly rare is world class at 800m all the way up to the marathon. Not sure about Kipyegon’s 800m background. Is anyone else in this conversation?
Why are the morons downvoting this poster? He is absolutely correct. For a woman to run 1:56 800m and 2:13 marathon is not drastically different than a man running 1:44 800m and 2:03 marathon. Wake up knuckleheads. And yes I understand that these are not in the same year or anywhere close in time.

I look forward to Sage Hurta, Addy Wiley, Ajee Wilson, Athing Mu becoming the USA's top female marathoner. Tigist Assefa made the leap so why not?
Sadly this will be a big part of her legacy. She is a fierce competitor but almost nobody believes she does it without “help.” She became superhuman a few years ago.
How is she super human? The idea of the best miler also being the 10,000 person seemed crazy maybe before Hassan but now it seems commonplace with her, Tsegay, Kipyegon and Ingebrigtsen.
Tsegay has already said she wanted to triple this year and I'm not convinced Hassan is better than Tsegay right now (in fact Tsegay beat her for 10,000 gold). And do you we not think Kipyegon could also triple? Ingebrigtsen has already won two 5000s. Who would drop him in a 10,000?
So are all 5 of them doping?
Here's my new question. If Kipyegon, Hassan and Tsegay all triple -5000, 10,000 and 1500 - who gets what medals.
5000 - G: S: B: 10,000 - G: S: B: 1500 - G: S: B:
Yes. I believe all of them are on some sort of pharmaceutical program. I'm in that camp. What has become of the sport is an absolute joke. Either all these athletes evolved and adapted incredibly fast or there is something else at work.
But I'm an old curmudgeon so my opinion is not one that holds weight. This is a young persons game.
