Not from running or skiing or mountaineering, I met a couple guys in the William O Douglas wilderness area of Washington State to do a type of stand exams. I met them several miles away from the parking area. As soon as we finished, they took off in a hurry, leaving me behind as if there was no linkage or safety concerns between us. I remember falling in deep holes twice on the way back, but fortunately just fell through to a solid and flat Creek bed. Could have easily twisted my ankle or broken something with no radio, and I don't believe these guys ever look back. We can put ourselves in peril by being so daring, unrealistic, or stupid.-- or in this case, abandoned by co-workers. I wonder if this guy was alone or accompanied by others...
