I hope it’s enough time. We are 7 weeks out. It depends how long it takes him to get back to full mileage.
Mantz was cross training since that race on Thanksgiving. Though his strava didn’t show it, he was back at 100 miles this week. He didn’t post everything on strava this week. For example, check out Clayton Young’s 6 mile tempo on December 14 where he was dropped by Conner. Mantz didn’t post that on his strava.
For those downvoting, I assume you don’t believe what I’ve written. I understand this is an anonymous forum and you have no reason to believe anyone. For what it’s worth, I live in Provo and run with these guys and know many others that run with them. That’s how I also know Sam Chelanga is out here training with Eyestone’s group preparing for the trials.
How is this joke still funny to so many people here?
I am no fan of the Church of LDS, but this joke is not clever, and is on par with the sense of humor of middle school kids.
LRC needs to move on from this.
They have plenty of guys having wonderful post collegiate careers, so either they age really well or LRC posters greatly embellish their ages while at BYU.
Regardless, it just begins to feel like hobby joggers complaining about successful athletes.

I agree with this guy. Post after post, entire threads sometimes, go on and on about how old the dude is. He was supposedly well over 40 with 17 grandchildren (that was literally in a post) as of his last NCAA title. Then he's done with BYU and he's suddenly 24. How does that happen? I've read this here from a number of posters - it's in pretty much all threads on this topic - but it needs to be said again:
If you believe (and many of you do) feel taking 2 or more years off from running after high school gives you ovewhelming advantage that your competitors cannot over come.....DO IT!
Blanks took a year training harder than he ever had before - at high altitude - between high school and college. Nobody has a problem with this.
The weird thing is that I believe it will be financially beneficial for Mantz to be hurt during the trials. Everyone believes he’s the best American (I don’t). He then can collect a big payday at Boston because the other Americans will be running the trials and never have to tarnish his reputation by losing at the trials.
You get a big payday at future races to be labeled as 'olympian' on their start list. Not to mention other endorsements he would get for being an olympian. For him making the olympics vs not making the olympics would literally be a minimum a few hundred thousand dollars missed over the next couple years above what he would still get not being an olympian. So making $50k at Boston from appearance fee and a little prize money as a non-olympian isn't going to do much for him to make up that difference.
Then it would be. He wouldn't use Strava at all. This is very easy to do. I've never used it myself. So no, it's actually NOT possible that he wants his training to be private. I don't know every detail of this dude's life, but we all know that because he doesn't keep it private.

Not to mention Mantz finished his BYU career in four calendar years, during Covid. So he was maybe a year older than a typical redshirt senior. Big deal. Some competitive advantage. It’s sophomoric humor, what are you gonna do?
I do wish he would keep up with his Strava posting. It’s fun to watch the guy progress and follow his actual training. But it’s his prerogative. Perhaps he is trying something new.
Tell you what, if I’m Mantz, I’m focused on making the Olympic team in the marathon. But if he gets out there and knows it’s not in the cards, then, yeah, switch gears to Boston. I’d love to see him make a team in the 10,000, but I just think there are too many fast dudes.
